About the Team: The Technology team oversees the Product, User Experience, Technology and Data functions across our business. They are responsible for shaping the way customers, readers and users engage with our brands and franchises. The Technology team works to provide a world-class experience in every aspect-visuals, tools, data, mobile, video, social and more, creating innovative solutions for customers that drive growth. The Technology team works closely with business partners, newsrooms, and functions across Dow Jones to build the products and platforms for our future. About the Role:

The Head of Digital Design is an executive leadership role reporting to the CTO, with responsibility for all aspects of Design, UX and customer insights across the Dow Jones B2C and B2B brands and product portfolios. This role is at the heart of designing an elegant customer experience for iconic brands like The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, MarketWatch, and Investor's Business Daily, alongside our comprehensive B2B solutions like Factiva, Risk & Research, OPIS, Newswires and more. The Head of Digital Design fosters strong collaborations with Product and Technology colleagues to create innovative and intuitive digital products that deliver exceptional user experiences and seamless usability for both our internal and external clients. Your team will spearhead a diverse range of activities, from uncovering user needs and conducting in-depth research, to defining problems, brainstorming solutions, and crafting innovative designs. You will oversee the development and maintenance of design systems and the creation of interactive prototypes and high-fidelity designs for development partners. The Design & Customer Experience team's mission is to design products and solutions that are streamlined, intuitive, consistent, accessible, sophisticated, and easy-to-use, ensuring they perfectly match, or even anticipate, our clients' needs.

Core Responsibilities

* Define, manage, adapt, and communicate product and experience designs necessary for digital products across the B2C and B2B business portfolios. Addressing all aspects of the customer lifecycle, including acquisition, service, growth capabilities (upsell/cross-sell), engagement, satisfaction, retention - ensuring consistency in UI and UX across the ecosystem.

* Partner with business, sales, marketing, newsroom/editorial, product, technology, data and other stakeholders to identify needs, validate pain points, and determine the high-level value proposition and business case for implementing innovative, relevant, and cost-effective design solutions.

* Align with and support the technology growth strategy as Dow Jones transitions to a greater customer-centric organization; build, lead, and evolve our next-generation digital design practice, aligned with business and brand needs and expectations, while driving a frictionless and delightful client experience

* Lead with human-centered, innovative, and data-driven design principles, designed to deliver on acquisition, revenue, efficiency, and client experience business objectives.

* Design intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for our websites, mobile apps, and other digital products. Ensure designs are visually appealing, accessible, and optimized for different devices and platforms.

* Deploy techniques such as Design Thinking and Customer Experience, current state, and data analysis, to establish near and long-term design priorities. Conduct and incorporate qualitative and quantitative research and competitive analysis as required.

* Define and deploy A/B experiments to optimize product experience and validate enhancements.

* Lead and mentor a large talented team of UI/UX designers, architects, and customer intelligence professionals (employees, contractors, and agency relationships) across global locations

Qualifications

* 10+ years of leadership of design teams; preferably within the digital media, information services, or technology sectors.

* Significant leadership experience in designing, building, and delivering high-quality and high volume (+1m DAU) consumer products and B2B digital products

* Innovative and curious, and readily able to think outside of the box, especially relative to disruptive technology.

* Proven track record in leading transformation and change, and ability to materially change business trajectory.

* Strong business acumen with the ability to make data-driven decisions and articulate business benefits/impact to a broad audience.

* Proven product leadership acumen, experience with Agile methodology and building deep partnerships with Product and Engineering.

* Strong skills in professional design tools

* Excellent communication skills with an ability to explain complex concepts in a relatable manner across all levels of the organization.

* Exceptional leadership skills with an ability to set the mission and vision for a large team; developing, and motivating teams to achieve high levels of performance, including leading global teams across multiple locations.

* Executive gravitas with excellent stakeholder management skills across a broad range of cross-functional and business leaders, with experience engaging and influencing at the executive level.

Pay Range: $300,000 - $360,000
