LibraryMedia Teacher

We are looking for a passionate Library Media Teacher to join our team! The Library Media Teacher teaches research and library skills to students across grades K-8. The Library Media Teacher collaborates with classroom teachers and manages all aspects of maintaining the school library/iMedia Center, organizing library material and equipment for effective and efficient utilization and circulation. The Library Media Teacher plans with teachers, when appropriate, for meaningful and effective grade appropriate reference work and/or literature appreciation activities for students. The Library Media Teacher selects, adapts and individualizes lessons and materials appropriate for diverse student populations, skills and learning styles. The Library Media Teacher supports the school's student achievement, state reading standards and fosters student recreational reading.

What you bring to the tableBachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Library Sciences or related fieldPA Instructional Certification specific to Library Science PK-12 or eligibility for instructional certification in PennsylvaniaAt least three years of experience running a library, preferably in an urban school settingContent knowledge in research and development of library skills, in addition to classroom management, organization, planning, instructional delivery, and technical skillsWorking knowledge of books and authors and how to assist students with reading selectionsAdvanced proficiency in computer skills, including the Google Suite and Google Classroom, and the ability to learn new programs/software quicklyStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to motivate and build relationships with parents, students and staff to promote student achievement and strengthen community partnershipsCommitment to diversity and inclusionFluency in Spanish preferred to support Spanish speaking learners

Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 10-months, exemptThis position is for in-person work at our location180 instructional days, 197 work days (new staff members work additional days for induction/orientation)In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiableTo be eligible to work for Pan American Academy Charter School, you must complete and submit background clearances and paperwork prior to your start date. We are able to accept clearances if they are less than one year old from the date a new employee presents them to Human Resources.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.
