Summary

Principia is looking for a Marketing Videographer/Photographer. In this role, you will be a key member of the Central Marketing team, and you will work with this team to produce compelling and impactful videos and photography that capture the spirit of Principia students and educators in action. Your experience with skilled filmmaking, photography, editing, flexibility, and teamwork will be key to your success. Reporting to the Visual Media Director, you will play a critical role in illustrating the Principia story through a lens of visual authenticity. You'll collaborate with the Visual Media Director and the rest of the creative team.

Primary ResponsibilitiesPlans, captures, edits, and catalogs video and photography depicting authentic and inspiring representations of Principia, with a primary focus on the College campus, for marketing, communications, public relations, and advancement needsCollaborates with the Visual Media Director and the rest of the creative team to meet organizational needs and goalsAssists in the management of student videographers/photographers as neededBuilds and maintains relationships with representatives of various departments to facilitate video and photography planning and executionHelps manage Principia's library of video and photos using digital asset management toolsKeeps up to date on current trends, techniques, and skills in the fieldTravels between the School and College campuses as neededAfter-hours and weekend work required and frequent

Minimum QualificationsStudent of Christian Science; if not, then values-alignedSupportive of Principia's mission, vision, and values as articulated hereBachelor's degree in mass communication, video production/film, photography, art, or related field OR comparable professional experience of 5+ yearsDemonstrated exceptional skill in capturing and editing video and still photographic images in both candid and staged settings;

portfolio required (must show both video and photo work)Deep experience capturing powerful candid portraits, action shots, and event-based imagesWealth of experience in planning, coordinating and conducting staged shooting sessions in both natural and artificial lighting scenariosAdvanced proficiency with video and photography production equipment; Preferred background includes:

Substantial knowledge of videography and photography techniques and best practicesExperience using Sony A7S II / A7S III cameraExperience using Canon 5D and R model camerasExperience flying DJI Mavic 2 Pro droneExperience using Zoom H5 audio recorderStrong working knowledge of lighting equipment (continuous lighting, strobe lighting, reflectors, backdrops, etc.)

Advanced proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (preferably on a Mac platform):

Lightroom Classic and Photoshop

Excellent editing and retouching skills

Premiere Pro (and/or Final Cut), After Effects, Media Encoder

Clear understanding of video formatting, editing aesthetics and software, post-production effects, and enhancing techniques

Exceptional organizational ability: prioritizing and executing many projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment; proven ability to create, navigate, and adjust complex organizational systems for managing digital assetsAbility to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, and think creatively in unpredictable scenariosPracticed ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, managers, subjects, and support personnelDetailed understanding of marketing and communication methods preferred
