Pierce Transit's Marketing Department is recruiting for our next

Marketing Intern !

In this role, you will have the opportunity to build skills and abilities that will help to prepare you for a fulfilling future in graphic design and marketing; while also providing you with an introduction to the exciting transit industry.

The individual we are seeking will submit an application that documents their experience and education in marketing. The student will be working alongside seasoned professionals in the field and will assist in creating attractive and accurate information for internal and external audiences. This position will bring hands-on learning opportunities as the person selected will be actively participating in a broad array of activities. They will increase their knowledge in terms of what it takes to be successful in a thriving marketing department whose products are always in high demand. This person will also learn to utilize graphic design software and prepare digital art files for in-house production or commercial printing. The student will be involved in interacting with a diverse group of stakeholders both internal and external to Pierce Transit.

PAID LEAVE:

Under the Washington Paid Sick Leave (WPSL) law, you will be eligible for one (1) hour of WPSL for every forty (40) hours worked, prorated for each pay period you work.

Essential Functions

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.Provide support to the Marketing department while learning business practices, policies and procedures.Assist Marketing department staff by revising and/or creating new graphic designs and layouts to be used in a variety of Pierce Transit's communication materials.Use technical and manual tools to design signs, internal posters, informational brochures, maps and bus schedules.Perform support work essential to many graphic design projects such as printing, trimming and mounting displays to various substrates.Communicate professionally and effectively with diverse stakeholders.Use centralized web-based software to manage and track design projects, and keep internal customers apprised of project status.Demonstrates reliable and consistent attendance.Performs related work as required.Qualifications

Required:

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, andActively enrolled in an institute of higher learning with a focus in graphic design, art or marketing fields, with artistic aptitude as shown by previous work.Desired:

Experience with Macintosh-based graphic design software.Other requirements:

Applicants must be willing to undergo a background check as part of the selection process.This is a part-time, limited-duration, position working 15 to 19 hours per week while college is in session. Additional hours may be worked when college is not in session up to 40 hours per week.Student must work on-site at Pierce Transit (in Lakewood, WA), during weekday, day-shift hours.Ability to maneuver objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
