Overview:

Performs highly skilled work in the preparation and production of design, layout and art work relating to the visual aspects of publications, forms and promotional material in the print media of print, displays and exhibits utilizing desktop publishing software for various departmental programs and activities; confers with program coordinators during early stages of project development to determine objectives; performs pre-press preparation; coordinates with outside vendors on large printing projects and advises on the planning, preparation and cost of materials; executes all display and framing projects related to promotion of office programs including lamination and mounting of displays and detailed framing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepares the design, layout and artwork relating to the visual aspects for the production of publications, forms and promotional materials in the media of print, displays and exhibits utilizing desktop publishing software; confers with program coordinators during early stages of project development to determine objectives.Prepares files for both in-house production and for outside vendors by transferring text to an electronic design and/or layout program; transfers file to disk with all artwork and printing instructions including color preferences, quantity and paper stock; makes alterations to project as requested by operating department; sends to printer togenerate dylux or 4-color copy proofs; generates film and plates, or directly generates print item.Performs pre-press preparation including preparing documents and images for electronic output to film.Coordinates with operating departments and outside vendors on large printing projects and advises on the planning, preparation and cost of materials.Executes all display and framing projects related to promotion of office programs including lamination and mounting of displays and detailed framing of both displays and other items for public viewing.Performs other duties as required or assigned.Minimum Requirements:

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high schooland

two (2) years of experience in the field of visual communication engaged in creative work in art, design, printing, filmmaking, television and other arts of communication.
