Austin Creative Reuse-Strategic Growth Project VISTA
Austin Creative Reuse (ACR) is a nonprofit with a mission to foster conservation and reuse through creativity, education and community building. Through our creative reuse center in Austin, Texas, we have diverted more than 2.6 million pounds of usable creative materials from the landfill and hosted hundreds of workshops and community events to promote art education and creative reuse. The VISTA Education Coordinator will be responsible for building ACR's capacity to deliver a reliable stream of high-quality, affordable creative materials for use in schools and art programs and to provide impactful art experiences and service learning projects for K-12 students. Member Duties :
The VISTA Education Coordinator will (1) execute and iterate ACR's educational programming to deliver supplies, support and direct programming to teachers and students, including executing the first full year of ACR's new Materials Mobile teacher program and expanded field trips and service learning programs; (2) create and deliver lesson modules and classroom materials kits that introduce the concept of creative reuse in the classroom; (3) plan and execute a materials drive to divert unused schools supplies at the end of the school year; (4) design, track and analyze program metrics; (5) set up outreach systems and build partnerships with community organizations; (6) engage with volunteers to support programming; (7) join the ACR team for outreach and tabling opportunities in the community; and (8) engage in workshops, talks and skill-building programs related to non-profit management, art education, the circular economy and related topics.
