Summary - Job Responsibilities - Activities:

The Power Supply Mechanical Design Supervisor will perform mechanical design and supervise a team of mechanical designers for high power rectifiers and power supply products.

The supervisor will lead and guide the team to mechanically design power supply products on time and within budget, while following the customer specifications, industry standards and direction from the electrical and project engineers.The supervisor will also have direct design responsibilities using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software programs (and Vault) to design the mechanical envelope and system layouts for rectifiers and power supplies.

Functions:

* Will need leading-edge knowledge of all mechanical design aspects of high-power Industrial Power Supplies and rectifier topologies in applications from 5kAdc to 100kAdc, including enclosures, rectifier power section, controls section, plumbing section, AC and DC bus bars and supports.* Ability to effectively lead a team of mechanical designers in support of company objectives, including but not limited to budget hours, budget material costs, and schedules.* Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of project status into the MRP system and to the engineering manager.* Use Autodesk Inventor 3D (and 2D) programs to create customer and manufacturing documentation, including bills of materials, part and component models, detail drawings, assembly drawings, schematics, flow diagrams, piping assemblies, outline drawings and installation drawings.* Work with cross-functional teams towards standardization of the power converter in order to increase quality/price ratio and reduce delivery time (lowest total cost designs).* Create design guides and work instructions for the designers and for the shop when appropriate.* Makes revisions, changes, and updates to existing documentation and 3D models while following Autodesk Vault and other document control processes.* Troubleshoots and solves production floor issues regarding mechanical design.* Interfaces with customers and vendors regarding assigned projects when needed.* Able to interpret assembly and fab drawings and the requirements. Ensure internal or supplier capabilities are integrated in these requirements.* Proactively engage with SME (subject matter experts) within Neeltran, but also with outside 3rd parties (consultants, key customer resources, etc.), as needed in support of above initiatives.* Able to work directly with customers engineering group to improve designs and enhance processes.* Must be organized and maintain professionalism at all times.* Other duties as assigned.

Education - Experience:

* Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering.* Minimum 2+ years of test/troubleshooting experience in industrial transformers is required.

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:

* Prior on-the-job experience of at least 5 plus years in the same or similar industry.* Demonstrated positive Customer Service demeanor.* Superior written and oral communication skills.* Strong technical background with an understanding of electromechanical designs and assemblies for a manufacturing facility.* Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving simple variables in standardized (normal) situations. Organized, adaptable, professional and able to follow instructions.* Proficient in Microsoft office Tools, ie, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.* Acquire basic working knowledge of company services to assist staff with various functions.* Cooperates with supervisors, co-workers and works as a team.
