Job Description:

We are seeking a Strong Senior UX Designer to support our Ecommerce Rapid Experimentation program and product domain areas. This role involves delivering effective interaction design solutions in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on rapid experimentation to test new features that may or may not be implemented across the Williams-Sonoma brand portfolio. The ideal candidate must have strong presentation and communication skills and thrive on rapid UX discovery (competitive audit, data analytics, session replays). This is a 6-month contract onsite in our San Francisco office with an option to extend.

Description:

The User Experience Design Group is responsible for designing the user experience for all IT products delivered to our customers, business associates, and consumers. The team builds relationships between WSI business functions and IT to provide user experience solutions that meet the needs of the business.

Specific Responsibilities:

Lead rapid experimentation efforts to test new features across the Williams-Sonoma brand portfolio.

Serve as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization to provide user experience solutions and user research to meet business needs.

Develop wireframes, task flows, specifications, audits, heuristic evaluations, competitive audits, taxonomy recommendations, design pattern library, journey maps, blueprinting, usability studies/surveys, and manage changes to such specifications.

Facilitate communication between the business and IT from initial wireframes to final implementation, negotiating agreements and commitments.

Share subject-matter expertise or in-depth technical knowledge to further develop company objectives and principles and achieve goals creatively and effectively.

Provide tactical work direction to team members as needed.

Maintain excellent knowledge of user experience and research best practices and methodology.

Ensure high-quality standards and strong presentation skills.

Possess solid knowledge of project management methodology.

Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, business communication, and writing skills.

Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Exercise strong judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

Make strong decisions that impact the success of short-term group or division operational goals.

Frequently interact with customers and/or functional peer groups, normally involving matters between functional areas or internal customers.

Interact with business leadership at all levels.

Lead cooperative efforts among project team members.

Receive limited instruction in determining methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other associates in the group.

Provide work direction to other associates in the team or group.

Making small incremental changes, such as changing button colors.

Optimizing, redefining, and making enhancements.

Looking across the entire e-commerce funnel for opportunities to improve the site.

Heavy collaboration for enhancements and improvements.

Working closely with 3-4 analysts.

Many opportunities for wins to be implemented on the site.

Presentation/communication: Important to present to Natalie, the director, who can push back a lot.

Must not get defensive and keep focused on what’s best for the business.

Other responsibilities: Rapid UX discovery: competitor analysis, industry trends, diving into available analytics, close collaboration with analytics.

Session replay: using the tool Quantum Metric to identify friction points in user sessions.

Some production work to quickly get things out.
