This Opportunity

The Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) will focus on Training and Communications as a member of the HSEQ Center of Innovation. They will lead the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive HSEQ training programs and communication campaigns.

Your Impact

Key Responsibilities:

Assessing and Identifying Training Needs:

Assess the HSE training needs and understand the requirements of its employees against the HSE management system and legal compliance.

Conduct surveys, interviews, and focus groups to identify these needs.

Evaluate employees’ strengths and weakness to determine areas that require improvement.

Designing Training Programs:

Develop learning curriculum and training programs tailored to the organization’s context.

Programs may include various instructional methods such as classroom training, e-learning, tutorials, and on-the-job training.

Developing Instructional Materials:

Create or oversee the creation of engaging and informative materials (presentation, manual, handouts, aids, interactive e-learning modules, etc.) for training sessions.

Periodically evaluate training material to ensure that they reflect any changes and stays up to date with trends in employee development.

Delivering Training Sessions:

Facilitate training sessions, ensuring that employees receive relevant and valuable content.

Engage participants and encourage active learning.

Evaluating Training Results:

Develop measuring tools to collect learners’ feedback on the training material, training media & instructor.

Monitor learning experiences and their quality results.

Assess effectiveness of training sessions and training programs.

Analyze feedback, track performance improvements, and make necessary adjustments for continuous enhancement.

Act as the subject matter expert in HSE for all related LMS requests.

Work with corporate communications team to develop a communications strategy for internal HSEQ communications.

Communication:

Create the HSE tactical communication plan to keep stakeholders informed about changes and key messaging around HSE.

Consider the target audience, communication channels, and timing to maximize impact.

Develop informative materials and provide sessions to help employees adapt to new processes or technologies.

Managing Internal Communications Channels, including memos, newsletters, and announcements, ensuring consistent and clear messaging within the organization.

Develop and improve accessibility, usability and logic of the key HSE communications tools including Canopy and SharePoint.

Assist the HSE leadership team in development of presentations and key messaging to drive improved HSE identity in the organization.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

Minimum 15 years' experience working with LMS, content creation and roll out.

Knowledge of instructional design theory and adult learning principles

Experience in writing learning outcomes, developing competency statements, and developing HSE training.

Proficiency with the development of training programs and materials, including trainee assessments.

Proven ability to master the full training cycle.

Ability to think out of the box to create innovative ways to convey key concepts.

Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.

Ability to critically assess/interpret significant amounts of information and produce clear and concise conclusions and recommendations.

Excellent accuracy and attention to detail

Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Flexibility/versatility combined with initiative, drive and ability to manage one’s own workload and priorities, including delivery to challenging deadlines.

Bachelor of Science, Engineering, OHS, or Environment; OHS Professional Designation (CRSP-CRBOH) is an asset, or Bachelor of Arts, Technical Communication, Education, Scientific Writing or Journalism; Technical writing certification is an asset.

IT literate with highly competent use of:

Microsoft Office suite (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Articulate

Learning Management System (Oracle Learning platform, preferred).

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
