Product Design Lead, Assurance

Cisco Networking is an industry leader providing intelligent network solutions for organizations to securely connect users, devices, applications, and workloads everywhere. We empower organizations everywhere - from local libraries to global hotels - to focus on their mission and have technology that simply works. Cisco has been named #1 Best Company to Work For in the U.S. by Fortune in 2023!

What We Are Looking For

Network Assurance provides insight to the end-to-end experiences of the users and applications across networks. It provides proactive monitoring, management, troubleshooting, and verification of the network, guaranteeing that it meets the required service levels and supports the needs of the organization and its customers.

As a Network Assurance Product Design Lead, you will be designing tools for businesses and organizations of all sizes to maintain their operational continuity, optimize network performance, and protect against potential threats. You will help drive a unified user experience across the Cisco Cloud and On-Premise Networking portfolio.

In this hands-on IC role, you will develop and demonstrate deep domain knowledge, product expertise, and an understanding of complex customer use cases and deployment models. You’ll be able to understand and articulate the needs of our customers, while setting the product vision and partnering with cross-functional teams to build it. You have the opportunity to influence the design of the entire Cisco observability stack, leading the way in an exciting convergence of AI, cloud-managed networking, and end-to-end observability.

Our team's main focus is on software, but we also find opportunities to collaborate with teams across the organization and think about how to improve the entire customer journey. Cisco Networking believes the quality of our products is dependent on the quality of our teams. We place a high value on nurturing the growth and development of everyone on our team. We give and get feedback early and often, share what we know, and learn from each other.

Responsibilities

Lead design with a small team of designers, performing hands-on work and identifying the right problems to solve. Run and synthesize research, sketch and prototype solutions, create high-fidelity design mockups and presentations.

Influence the strategic vision and design of large, complex initiatives for a product, program or strategic effort of considerable size and scope. Applying lean UX methodologies to drive requirements, build a product roadmap in collaboration with product managers and engineers, and finally bring the product to life.

Build trust with cross-functional partners by seeking out their points of view, collaborating regularly and inviting them into research and co-creation sessions with customers. Advocate for the prioritization of product enhancements grounded in research and analysis.

Present persuasively. Tell the story of a project and build prototypes that precisely articulate how your design solves the problem and why it's the correct solution.

Provide direction to and mentor designers; supporting the team with planning, navigating a large organization, and working towards clarity on execution timelines.

Identify overlaps between products and work towards simpler, more unified solutions.

Translate what may start as ambiguous business needs into clear customer-focused solutions.

Facilitate workshops, sketching and prototyping sessions; build documentation and templates that enable others to consume and contribute.

You're an ideal candidate if you have:

A portfolio that demonstrates your ability to simplify complex data sets and interaction models, working on and shipping technically complex enterprise products.

10+ years of professional experience designing and delivering products with cross-functional teams from strategy to delivery.

Strong visual design and data visualization skills, showing confidence in your craft.

Knowledge of the networking domain or experience in a related product or field is a plus.

Aligned teams around customer-centered design decisions, using UX methodologies and tools (double-diamond, personas, journey mapping, dual agile, lean ux, prototypes), and influenced adoption by those who aren’t familiar with strategic UX engagements.

Ability to operate at different altitudes: from high level strategy to granular page level designs.

Made complex problems and workflows feel simple and approachable.

The ability to strike a balance between discovery and delivery and pivot to meet the team and product needs.

Persuasive storytelling and influence.

Led and mentored junior UX designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture within the team.
