Description of Work (includes but isnotlimited to the following):Public OutreachProvide EDS information to the community, businesses, agencies, and professionals relating to the communication needs of deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf-blind individualsAssist with booths at conventions and workshops in this position's catchment areasTechnical AssistanceProvide training for consumersProvide troubleshooting for equipment problemsProvide loaner equipment for consumers who aren't eligible to apply or whose equipment is being repairedTrainingCoordinate presentations to agencies and service providers who work with deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind individualsProgram Development and MaintenanceIdentify target groups that may need information about EDS.Maintain monthly activity reportsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesTo receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Any information omitted from the application form, listed under the text resume section, or on an attachment will not be considered for qualifying credit.Basic knowledge of Microsoft products: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.Experiences working with elderly population.Excellent organizational skills.Management PreferencesBasic knowledge/skills in American Sign Language.Knowledge of telecommunications equipment for individuals who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, or Hard Of Hearing (HOH).Networking with local and state organizations.Experience with outreach work.Ability to train individuals on the use of telecommunications equipment.Excellent public speaking skills as well as verbal and written skills.Basic knowledge of state and federal laws related to telecommunications access and technology.Physical PreferencesExtensive travel is required within, and occasionally outside, the 12-county region; loading and unloading equipment including some lifting; exhibit booth and demonstration set up also required.Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsSome state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience."
