Job Description
Floor Covering Weekly (FCW), a member of the Hearst Organization, is pleased to announce the recruitment for an "Assistant Editor." This is an amazing opportunity to join a collaborative group that has the feel of a startup but whose growth and development is backed by Hearst.
Position SummaryThis position requires strong writing skills, strategic thinking and the ability to hone a meaningful perspective on industry nuances.You will be charged with ownership of category coverage and be responsible for developing storylines. As well, you will join the editorial team in content creation and bringing new story ideas to the table.This position will also be tasked with proofreading pages during the production process of the print issue to assist the senior managing editor.
Travel required - key industry events, trade shows and partner meetings - resulting in coverage for each FCW platform including the FCW1.com website, social platforms, videos and print.
This position is New York based. FCW is currently working under a hybrid format where in-office days are required at the Hearst Tower.
Qualifications
Ideal Requirements:Bachelor of Arts in English, Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related fieldOne-two years in media / publishingKnowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe InCopy and Google Docs. Experience with Excel a plus.
