I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs (ESIA) is one of the world’s leading schools of international affairs. is a global security policy journal that provides diverse perspectives on strategic changes, trends, and relations around the world along with their public policy implications.

TWQ is seeking an Editorial Associate to assist with the editing and publication process for the journal. Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, the main responsibilities include the following:
  • Edit and proofread manuscripts while ensuring consistency with GW style guidelines and the Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Support the publisher and Editor-in-Chief to produce the online and print publication.
  • Work with members of the university finance & accounting team and public affairs to submit expense reports, issue honoraria payments to authors, market the issue to GW faculty and students, and participate in university events.
  • Create simple graphics for the journal’s cover and website using Adobe InDesign.
  • Manage TWQ’s website on GW Blogs (WordPress). Manage TWQ’s social media accounts, including X and Facebook, and email marketing.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

This is a part-time, hybrid position with some days in-person and some days remote.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with editing long-form content, including proofreading highly desired.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign and WordPress (or ability/willingness to learn) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Chicago Manual of Style is ideal.
  • International Relations experience preferred.

Hiring Range

$23.35 - $30.39
