POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for the planning and execution of strategic marketing, communications, brand management and media relations for UWLC. Consulting with and incorporating input from key stakeholders, the Director of Marketing & Communications analyzes, prepares, and executes a comprehensive year-round marketing and communications plan that differentiates the United Way brand, furthers impact and fundraising goals of the organization, and ensures a consistent brand experience aligned with United Way Worldwide and UWLC's mission, vision, and values.

The Director of Marketing and Communications reports to the VP of Resource Development and oversees the work of 1-2 employees on the marketing team; is also a member of the Shared Leadership Team. This position works closely with all UWLC staff and departments; businesses; donors; nonprofit agency partners; vendors; community service groups; and government agencies. This position is connected to and engaged with peer local United Ways and United Way Worldwide colleagues for continuous learning, growth and consideration of new ideas.

This position requires time in the office as well at events and sites; some portion of work will be virtual.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

The successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

Anti-Racism and Social Justice : Ground all marketing and communication efforts in principles of anti-racism, equity, and social justice, committing to continuous personal and professional growth in these areas.

Develop and Implement Strategies : Create and execute annual marketing & communication strategies and plans, including promotional campaigns, annual events, and outreach and engagement to support United Way of Lane County's mission and goals while maintaining integrity of brand image.

Budget and Resource Management : Oversee the marketing budget, manage resources effectively, and track expenses.

Team Supervision : Supervise and support marketing team members in execution of marketing strategies and plans.

Campaign Management : Oversee the creation, execution, and compliance of marketing campaigns, ensuring adherence to laws and regulations (e.g., SPAM, GDPR).

Project Management : Ensure effective project management across marketing initiatives, maintaining alignment with strategic goals, deadlines, and budget.

Strategic and Creative Leadership : Utilize strategic thinking and current market trends to develop innovative approaches for consumer engagement and business growth.

Digital and Social Media : Leverage social media, SEO, and other digital tactics to enhance brand visibility and engagement; measure and track effectiveness of tactics.

Content Creation and Communication : Ensure high-quality, engaging, and informative content creation; oversee and develop all organizational materials, videos, photography, etc. to ensure consistent message delivery and brand presentation across all departments and programs and in alignment with United Way Worldwide; train staff and volunteers on key messaging.

Relationship Building : Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, community partners and volunteers to support a collaborative work environment.

Flexibility and Deadline Management : Work well under pressure, adapt to changing conditions, and meet deadlines effectively.

Brand Consistency : Develop and maintain comprehensive Brand Management and strategic communications plans to ensure consistent brand presentation and message delivery across all platforms and departments.

Data-Driven Decision Making : Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various marketing and communication efforts to measure impact and effectiveness. Use insights to refine strategies, optimize campaigns, and make informed decisions that align with organizational goals.

Digital Marketing Optimization : Leverage social media, SEO, and other digital tactics to effectively promote initiatives and community programs, driving engagement and increasing reach.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:

Relevant Bachelor's Degree/equivalent or relevant work experience and minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive, successful experience in marketing, branding and communications.

Two or more years of direct supervisory experience

Solid understanding of the full range of marketing and communications channels, including advertising, CRM, public relations, and direct mail.

Experienced in collecting and analyzing marketing data to assess campaign effectiveness and guide strategy adjustments.

Excellent writing and communication skills. Must be able to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively for a broad audience as well as tailor communications that effectively connect with diverse audiences.

Well-organized, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, and able to work effectively and collaboratively with people across various departments and levels of the organization and contribute as a team member.

Must be able to take initiative, create and execute strategies, demonstrate leadership, work independently and produce consistently high-quality work.

Ability to balance a variety of perspectives and proven ability to rapidly establish and maintain credibility in relationships such as with board members, community members, volunteers, and internal audiences.

Skilled in Microsoft Office; comfort with various technology platforms

SALARY STATEMENT

The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $62,143 - $89,486 per year. Proffered salaries are determined by several factors including applicant's knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market. United Way of Lane County a generous benefit package including employer paid health insurance, PTO, retirement, and more.
