The Role

Overview:

The Senior Advisor to the President (Advisor) serves as the primary liaison between the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and external stakeholders of the Bank. The Advisor collaborates with leadership to develop engagement strategy for the President, FVP and other ELT members . They also help manage, advise, and coordinate the President and CEO’s interactions with System colleagues. The Advisor maintains high standards of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy, judgment, customer service, efficiency, and operational excellence. In working closely with internal and external stakeholders, s/he deals with a wide range of highly sensitive issues under tight deadlines/pressures. This position requires a full understanding of the breadth and scope of Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ mission, strategy, and priorities, particularly as related to external stakeholders and the Eleventh District community.

Key Responsibilities:

Overseeing the President’s external speaking engagements including formulating the strategy for external speaking opportunities, scrutinizing incoming event requests, setting up proactive speaking opportunities and providing recommendations on requests that align with the established speaking strategy.

Managing strategic initiatives for the President including District listening tours, international trips, roundtables with key stakeholders and other special topic engagements to inform the President’s policy views and strengthen relationships with external audiences.

Directing the President’s FOMC calls and outreach to ensure we are hearing real-time anecdotal information from the right stakeholders in advance of policy discussions.

Facilitating Presidential correspondence with external stakeholders, crafting communications for the President and acting as a liaison on behalf of the President to ensure requests for the President’s times are being resolved appropriately.

Drives the strategic prioritization of tasks, initiatives, and projects requiring the President’s participation. Provides strategic inputs in making decisions around the President’s external engagements and trips.

Ensuring briefing documents are prepared and logistics are organized for all external executive engagements.

Executing special projects as directed, this includes managing VIP visits to the Bank, helping to broker speakers for the Bank’s speaker series, connecting Presidential stakeholders to other interested parties within the Dallas Fed and overseeing ad hoc requests that come from the President.

Handles inquiries and routine/complex responsibilities as delegated by the President, including special project management. Participates in or keeps track of the work of key task forces related to outward-facing strategic initiatives related to organization vision and priorities.

Contributes to maintaining and further augmenting the reputation of the President’s office through professional, friendly, timely, diplomatic, and respectful interactions internally and externally.

Liaison between Communications, CED, Integrated Policy and CoS office to ensure optimal planning, execution and communication of the President's engagement activities

Effectively developing partnerships with staff and leadership within the above departments and delegates duties most times to partners not directly reporting to the advisor

Through effective engagement with leadership across the Bank, developing strategies to build deeper connections with organizations within the community. Further, advises the leaders within the Bank in implementation of these strategies.

Functional Knowledge: Requires comprehensive understanding of the Bank’s mission, District industry and businesses including key contacts, community needs and desires, and the connection from the Dallas Fed to the communities served to policymaking and the impact of policymaking.

Expertise: Applies in-depth understanding of the links between the Federal Reserve, the economy, the community, and how to position the President to achieve its mission.

Leadership: Manages and influences cross-functionally, sets organizational priorities, allocates resources, and ably influences cross-functionally and outside the organization.

Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves complex technical, operational, and organizational problems.

Impact: Helps drive the Dallas Fed’s engagement, particularly that of the President and other members of senior leadership, with internal and external stakeholders as well as the District more broadly.

Interpersonal Skills: Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential roadblocks or risks, and identifies optimal solutions to intractable problems, often at senior levels and external.

You Have:

Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, public policy or a related field is required. Exceptional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, in a related discipline. Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position: 10 years of policy, analytical, or consulting experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Ability to manage and drive consensus across multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a policy or mission-driven organization, and 5 years’ experience with communications, executive advising, or related experience.

Deep interest in public service and commitment to the mission of the Federal Reserve System.

Proven ability to work collaboratively in business teams.

Ability to multi-task and balance multiple priorities in a very fluid environment.

Excellent leadership and relationship management experience in complex organizations, with multiple stakeholders.

Strong interpersonal and relationship‐building skills.

Ability to use compelling arguments to influence others and gain support and commitment.

Ability to solve unique and complex problems that have broad impact to the Bank, senior leadership, and important stakeholders.

Must possess strong analytical experience, as well as time management and organization skills.

Excellent written and oral communicator. Able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and widely varied external constituents.

Leads with integrity, demonstrating honesty and respect.

We use a hybrid work schedule that allows remote work but requires on-site work (in the office) based on business needs.
