Who we are looking for?
We're looking for someone who loves packaging! Someone with a keen eye for design and a knack for noticing details. Someone who lives for great typography and creating custom illustrations.
In a nutshell... a Packaging Designer.
As a Packaging Designer at Trader Joe's, you'll be responsible for creating the designs that excite our customers, at all our stores, nationwide.
You'll be designing for everything from coffees and teas, to health and beauty, to imported salamis and cheeses to produce and prepared meals.
As a Packaging Designer, you'll be responsible for partnering with our Product Developers to design the packaging (labels, boxes, bags, bottles, and cans) for our products. In addition, you'll work closely with our nutrition team to ensure the regulatory aspects of labeling are met.
This position is based out of our Boston, MA office.
The Packaging Designer is responsible for:
Designing 2 & 3 dimensional packaging (labels, tags, boxes and bags) to showcase our products.
Incorporating hand-drawn artwork, clip-art, photography and type to develop packaging that correctly positions products within their category and resonates with our customers.
Developing designs for our regional reusable bags.
Assisting stores (from time to time) with marketing requests.
Developing graphics for internal meetings and events.
Working collaboratively with other departments.
The ideal candidate has:
A Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design (or equivalent experience).
A minimum 3-5 years graphic design experience in a studio setting (preferably in packaging).
Demonstrated strength in creative thought and visual problem solving.
Fluency in Adobe CC (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign).
A positive attitude, strong communication skills and a passion for creating package design solutions that excite our customers!
