Graphic Design Specialist- Part-Time
Basic Function and Scope : The Work and Learn Center is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual who is passionate about youth development, graphic design and business development. The idea candidate will provide young adult learners ages 16-24 with appropriate curriculum, projects and experiences in an engaging atmosphere designed to support and prepare students in obtaining their Adobe Illustrator Certification. The idea candidate will enable students to develop competencies and basic skills to create a digital portfolio, website development and design projects. This person will supervise and manage the Social Enterprise Youth Ambassador (SEYA) program's day-to-day client projects alongside the Work and Learn Center Director. The Work and Learn Center Graphic Design Specialist will facilitate additional supportive programs as directed/needed such as the career readiness program, production and printing, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:Minimum of 4 years of graphic design freelance work or equivalent experienceBachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityAdvanced knowledge of design curriculum and Adobe IllustratorAbility to instruct high school and community students ages 16-24 and positively influence their behaviorExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of peopleStrong oral and written communication skills with good presentation skillsAdvanced knowledge of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva Pro, and basic web development softwareProficient knowledge of small business operations, marketing, branding and social media managementAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, Sanchez Charter School, students, clients/customers, social service providers and community key stakeholders.Major Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
Teaches, enhances, develops and implements curriculum to support students in obtaining an Adobe Illustrator Certification after the completion of course.Ability to facilitate additional supportive programs as needed for the elevation of the Work and Learn Center program including but not limited to career readiness information, entrepreneurship, etc.In partnership with Work and Learn Center Director, manages basic day-to-day supervision of the Social Enterprise Youth Ambassadors (SEYA) projects, client interaction and business deliverables.Compiles, maintains, reports all data collection and documents for the Work and Learn Center in a timely manner.Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly to supervisor, colleagues, students, partners and the community.Previous experience in graphic design, social media marketing and working with clients.Ability to serve and work with young people from diverse communities.Excellent time management organizational skills to support a growing and innovative program.Ability to create a safe space and student-focused learning environment.Personal Characteristics and Qualities:
