Director of Music and Liturgy

Position DescriptionThe Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Director of Music Ministry for Saint John Neumann Parish. The ideal candidate will have a considerable knowledge and reverence of the Roman Catholic faith and its liturgy.Duties and ResponsibilitiesReport to the Pastor and work collaboratively with other parish staff to manifest the parish’s mission.Plan, prepare, and execute music for all liturgical celebrations.Play organ/piano for English Sunday Masses, weddings, and funerals.Rehearse, direct, and accompany Parish Choir.Coordinate with other music directors and schedule all musicians.Ensure liturgical ministers are trained and scheduled.Maintain inventory of liturgical supplies and prepare worship aids.Chair, schedule, and record notes for Liturgy Committee meetings.Administer Liturgy and Music budgets.QualificationsComprehensive knowledge of Catholic music and liturgy.Catholic in good standing.Leadership, communication, planning, and organizing skills.Supervisory experience preferred.Education and ExperienceMaster’s Degree in Music or equivalent education/experience.Three to five years in a parish setting preferred.Excellent organ, keyboard, and conducting skills.Knowledge of Microsoft Office and budget management.HoursThis is a full-time position of 32-40 hours per week with expected weekend and evening hours.Please send resume and letter of interest to:
