Our philosophy is at the core of everything we do: Innovate to Simplify.OVERVIEW:The Senior Design Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and scheduling a group of design professionals to ensure high-quality deliverables are issued on time and completed. Additionally, the Senior Design Manager is responsible for the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the design department. The ideal candidate will understand how the design department affects other departments within the organization and be able to communicate well between departments.RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing design team while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.Plan and schedule resources to meet forecasted volume demand.Collaborate with Project Management, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing on issues and schedule changes.Oversee the quality and timeliness of detailed electromechanical designs including 2D drawings and 3D CAD models and material BOMs.Manage resource requirements and budgets for activities and deliverables.Create and monitor KPIs to ensure the effectiveness and success of design processes.Innovate and develop new standards, policies, and procedures to guide the design and engineering group to maximize effectiveness and maintain process alignment with the Quality Management System (QMS).Communicate with the Software Engineering Team to increase effective design automation.Establish and grow relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to anticipate design schedule volatility and direction.Prepare periodic Executive Summary reports by business function and distribute.Obtain regular feedback from internal and external customers, evaluate and implement improvements, and ensure feedback is effectively managed.Manage team member recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and issue resolution.Perform other duties as assigned.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The Senior Design Manager spends most of their time in an office environment, but may occasionally spend time at the company’s manufacturing plant or at the project site. The office is an open and collaborative space where work is performed both independently and with the team. When at the plant, work is performed in a more traditional manufacturing environment, with higher noise levels and frequent movement of people and equipment. When on-site, the environment is that of a typical construction site, which may be in fairly remote rural locations, and where extreme weather conditions may be encountered.REPORTING STRUCTURE:This position reports directly to the Design Director.CAREER ADVANCEMENT:Career advancement at Construction Innovations is possible with all positions but is not guaranteed. Advancement could be within the current department or to other departments within the company.LOCATION:Construction Innovations facilities and offices are located in Sacramento, CA, and Mather, CA.COMPENSATION:A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $105,600.00 - $171,500.00. The actual amount offered within this range will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant job-related factors. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.QualificationsDESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field required.7+ years of relevant experience in electrical or mechanical design.5+ years’ experience managing direct reports.Experience in design/build or EPC construction or manufacturing preferred.Initiative to seek out opportunities to contribute to the overall team.A creative mind with the ability to suggest improvements.Strong proficiency (5+ years of experience) in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong organizational and planning skills.Advanced knowledge of ERP systems.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Regularly sit, stand, and walk for long and short distances.Required to hear with or without correction to be able to interpret and receive information and directions.Regularly required to communicate: verbal and written, to describe and explain detailed, important, and accurate instructions.Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.Capability to push, pull, lift, reach, and carry at least 10 pounds, occasionally lifting/moving up to 35 lbs. with or without assistance.Visual acuity with or without correction for reading documentation, analyzing data, and using electronic devices.Use of fingers and hands for operating a computer or other electronic devices.
