This is a management position working in partnership with the Director of a federally funded national U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Center around issues relating to reentry, particularly with and on behalf of corrections and community-based entities. The communications & outreach director oversees the development and delivery of communications/public marketing, civic outreach, and community engagement consulting, strategies, and tools to advance the goals and missions of Center grantees – and supervises production and products (e.g., webinars, toolkits, training materials, policy briefs, etc.) in support of grantee efforts and the larger sector nationally. The position may be remote or based in Chicago.We are seeking a full time

Senior Program Manager, Communications & Outreach:Starting at $65,000 – contingent upon experience, education, etc.Training, Technical AssistanceDelivers and supervises the delivery of communications and public outreach-oriented consulting, training, and technical assistance deliverables for grantees to expand their public outreach, broaden community partnerships across corrections and community stakeholders, and sustain grantee programs through leveraging exposure and access to new funding sources.Works directly with the Center director, partners, and TTA coaches to identify all grantees' communications and outreach-related needs and assign/distribute work appropriately.Oversees and supports all communications- and outreach-related TTA functions.Coordinates development, prioritization, production, dissemination, and promotion of products/thought leadership activities for grantees and the field.Works with Center director, partners, SMEs, and coaches to develop, produce, and deliver materials and thought leadership products to grantees and the field.Develops/implements communications/social media strategy to promote and leverage thought leadership/events across the field; supervises overarching external communications/outreach activities, including with/for partners, grantees, and BJA.Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Center communications and marketing activities, including supervision of a Communications Program Manager.Assures completion of communications-related Center goals, reporting, and evaluation as per Center, TASC, and BJA standards.RequirementsOur Ideal candidate :Master’s degree required.At least six to eight years of experience in some aspect of communications or a related area, including at least four years in managerial/supervisory roles.Knowledge of and interest in Center-related issues (e.g., corrections, reentry, social justice, criminal justice, addiction recovery, etc.).Outstanding writing and oral communication skills, including preparing and presenting materials for various audiences, including consulting, training, technical assistance, and thought leadership materials.Ability to lead, manage, and work collaboratively with stakeholders, diverse staff, colleagues, and partners.Demonstrated knowledge of systems and client populations related to the Center’s activities.Ability to work with a diverse population.Ability to represent CHJ and Center partners/clients positively and professionally.Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the InternetOur benefits package includes:Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance and Flexible SpendingPaid Leave - STD/LTDPaid Time Off/Sick Time/ Floating HolidayTuition Reimbursement403 B (retirement plan)The agency currently offers hybrid work schedules that combines in-office and remote work.
