Theatre Technical Director (Interim)

for the 2024–2025 academic year. This position is a one-year interim position within the Trevor Performing Arts Department. We are looking for a dedicated and engaging professional who provides management, coordination, and execution of all technical aspects of productions, performances, events, and rentals in Trevor Day School’s Sally A. Rocker Theatre. This position will also help plan and support other internal and external (rental) events and spaces that require audio-visual support. Ideal candidates should possess a combination of technical skills in theatre technology and operations; a high level of organization, safety, and attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with adults and students within an educational setting; and a genuine passion for theatre production and education.

Rocker Theatre and other school event spaces, including but not limited to schoolwide meetings, assemblies, performances, and external rentals.Manage and maintain all technical equipment and systems in the Sally A. Rocker Theatre and other school event spaces.Assist in supporting technical theatre classes and workshops.Supervise student theatre production workers and ensure compliance with safety standards.Collaborate with Production Manager to plan and manage budgets and technical needs for productions, as well as annual equipment maintenance and acquisition.Collaborate with Trevor’s Operations and Technology teams to support rental events and coordinate with external clients and internal staff.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5+ years of professional experience.Strong foundation in carpentry, sound, and information technology with knowledge of lighting as well as set and costume design.Proficiency in a variety of audiovisual technology, including but not limited to ETC Ion lighting console and other branded equipment, Yamaha LS-9 sound console, Crestron AV systems, Barco and NEC projectors, and MAC computer systems.Ability to create a supportive, collaborative environment for students and staff.Flexibility, creativity, patience, and a sense of humor.To apply, please provide the following:Cover letter.
