The Office of Student Engagement (OSE), an energetic office that supports student organization-produced programs and campus engagement, has an immediate opening for a Communications Designer, reporting to the Senior Director of Student Engagement and collaborating with professional staff and students to develop a strategic integrated communications plan and subsequent materials.

We are looking for a candidate who is a strong writer, with demonstrated photography, videography, web and print design skills, who can easily connect with student organizations and student leaders. The candidate should have demonstrated experience working with institutional brand guidelines.

In this role, you will:Take responsibility for communications projects from conception to creation, collecting and incorporating feedback from stakeholders and students, and publishing/distributing the final product. Projects include branding of various social life programs, writing content and designing office newsletters, creating content for social platforms that are current with students. Projects will support the communication needs of both department led and student led programs.Develop and implement an innovative multimedia strategic plan to promote OSE featuring clear objectives, messages and tactics metrics measuring progress against goals and a timeline with associated deliverables. Design an overarching brand that ties all of the various OSE projects together. Analyze, report outcomes, and update the plan as needed.Support the communication design needs related to event planning; create communications that effectively presents complex policies in a simple way that works for students and are easy to follow, employing user-experience principles in a higher education setting.Serve as the OSE webmaster; maintain and continuously refresh content and images to ensure relevance and accessibility of information.Use software applications and mediums to produce complex illustrations, graphics, images and photos for design assignments. Create content specification and design guidelines. Inspect proofs for accuracy and adherence to appropriate production standards.Provide guidance to student photographers, videographers and graphic designers.Develop relationships with vendors to coordinate the delivery of printed materials, including shirts and posters, that are done in a timely manner.Work closely with the Student Affairs Communications team to develop and align with Student Affairs overall design and brand.Be point person and resources for the Office of Student Engagement and student organizations to manage best practices and policies including trademark licensing and use.

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in related field and three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Demonstrated understanding of graphic design principles.Ability to work around an initial concept and think in terms of broad solutions.Demonstrated experience and understanding of job-required software applications and mediums, including browser usability and cross platform compatibility.Ability to present a portfolio that reflects creative work.Ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and customer needs.Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Strong organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills.Ability to perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.Strong knowledge in industry standards, trends, and technical knowledge.Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team.Visual acuity, including color vision.

Working Conditions:This is hybrid position that requires at least 2 days of onsite work per week and may vary depending on the time of academic year.

This role is also open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate.The expected pay range for this position is $67,000 - $93,082 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
