The Sr. SEO Manager leads and manages the American Cancer Society’s search marketing portfolio including Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). You will work with the Director, Search Engine Marketing and Digital Product Team to execute Search Marketing campaigns.

The Sr. SEO Manager’s primary goal will be to maximize the volume of inbound organic traffic that drives brand and mission awareness, and revenue to our portfolio of web properties. The Sr. SEO Manager is responsible for digital marketing campaign success and leading the day-to-day management and delivery of internal search marketing programs including SEO, content strategy, data analysis and reporting.

This role is responsible for managing project(s) & collaborating with internal teams to execute day-to-day tactical search marketing strategies, performance monitoring, content, keyword/user intent research and on and off-page optimizations that drive organic traffic. This role will provide technical and strategic recommendations, reporting and insights to enable ACS teams to identify optimization opportunities and make data-driven decisions that drive traffic and conversions. It will be critical to discover under-performing areas on Cancer.org and to identify opportunities that improve overall site performance. This individual must possess strong communication skills and an understanding of Content Strategy, Engagement SEO and Technical SEO to maximize organic discoverability in search engines.

This is a remote position that can be home based anywhere in the United States.

The Sr. SEO Manager is a hands-on search professional with excellent problem-solving skills and a fundamental understanding of overall search engine optimization and search marketing best practices. This role requires strategic thinking to map out and execute effective and efficient campaigns but also technical strategic executions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with the Director, Search Engine Marketing, this person will ensure that the American Cancer Society’s Search program is holistic, strategically grounded, and maintain the highest standards of innovation, creativity, and excellence.Lead in the achievement of key goals in the area of search marketing campaign performance, forecasting, reporting and insights for SEO and the Digital Products Team.Understand the alignment of internal digital properties with business objectives, timelines, and seasonality and make strategic recommendations for enhancing the search experience.Manage tracking, weekly/monthly/annual reporting, and analysis of content campaigns and programs to improve overall performance. Present actionable insights and recaps on the fly, as well as high-level trends.Demonstrate thought leadership and professional communication skills by developing polished deliverables, such as presentations, strategic recommendations, business cases and performance reports.Define and analyze key performance metrics (KPIs) that inform the success of our campaigns and optimize in real-time.Perform continuous site auditing, and recommend scalable on and off-page optimization based on business objectives for both existing functionality and new opportunities.Provide SEO best practices in alignment with current technical principals and CMS systems.Research, develop, and help drive large-scale solutions to broaden organic search performance.Own monitoring of assigned SEO performance, weekly/monthly roadmap, and delivery of ad-hoc reporting.Work with cross-functional stakeholders from MarComm, Web Management, IT, Earned & Paid Media, and others to ideate and execute Search Marketing strategy.Responsible for management and execution of day-to-day tactical Search Marketing strategies to drive online traffic and donations.Develops and maintains day-to-day relationships with internal and external (vendor) partners.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Measures ongoing effectiveness of areas you oversee against target metrics and makes frequent adjustments to leverage any necessary changes.Create, adjust and present plans based on data-driven decisions.Responsible for evangelizing the evolving world of SEO at all levels of the organization in terms of best practices, industry standards, and legal requirements.Own a large part of the campaign/project life-cycle from any needed discovery and initial assessments through launch, including ongoing measurement and reporting. Integrate initiatives with internal partners in MarComm, Web Management, IT, Earned & Paid Media.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Five (5) or more years of experience in search engine marketing with agency experience managing internal or client search marketing.Direct experience of working with editorial teams, as well as IT and product teams.Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional partners at all levels and ability to clearly communicate technical messages to non-technical audiences.Able to work across several disciplines of SEO, including content specification, on-page optimization, technical SEO and UX.Able to manage effective keyword/topic research, content planning and content optimization, at scale, for both the short and long term.Experience using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Pagespeed, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs and Conductor or similar platforms.Demonstrated experience and knowledge of content strategy and SEO best practices.Demonstrated experience in using search products to build brands and enhance digital presence to increase traffic and user engagement.Advanced knowledge and understanding of website best practices and ranking factors.Staying abreast on industry standards.Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) a big plus.An understanding of web development technologies, including knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript.Excellent written and verbal communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to dig extensively into metrics and analytics.

Knowledge/Skills:

Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Advertising or similar from an accredited college or university. 5+ years’ experience with robust SEO and Digital marketing knowledge.

The starting rate is $70,000 to $90,000 annual. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
