The Collegeville Institute invites applications for the part-time (.50fte), non-benefit eligible position of Project Director - Ecclesial Literature Project.

The Project Director of the Ecclesial Literature Project will develop, enhance, and implement writing workshops held at the Collegeville Institute and at partner sites; identify and supervise workshop leaders; recruit and select workshop participants; cultivate partnerships for off-site workshops; responsible for the communications, grant writing and reporting to Lilly Endowment, Inc.; conduct assessment of workshops and workshop leaders; ensures program objectives are met; works collaboratively giving direction to program staff; oversees communications related to the writing workshops and Bearings Online. The Project Director works collaboratively with CI staff and Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:

Researches, writes, and prepares grant proposals.Prepares and submits annual grant reports according to the grant reporting schedule.Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates writing programs held at both the Collegeville Institute and off-site partner locations.Identifies and selects writing program leaders, negotiates contracts, assesses their abilities, and oversees their work. Provides post-program feedback.Explores and develops new themes and approaches for writing programs.Designs writing programs in a variety of formats, (e.g., in-person, on-line, day, one-week, multiple weeks).Works collaboratively with program staff to implement these programs.Oversees Bearings Online with the communications staff, recruits and develops writers, solicits manuscripts, and oversees editing and production process.Writes, speaks, and publishes regularly as an accomplished writer and representative of the Ecclesial Literature Project and the CI.Creates opportunities for good writing for participants in other CI programs (e.g., Resident Scholars, Seminars).

Administrative:

Manages fiscal operations including overseeing grant budget and expenditures. Monitors the program’s financial health, reviews and approves finance reports prepared by the CI business manager which is provided to ELP grantor.Works collaboratively with staff who manage programs including public relations, communication strategies, and website development.Works collaboratively with the Order of Saint Benedict, the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict, the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University, and the School of Theology and other campus offices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred in theology, writing, communications, or related field.Effectively works with a diversity of people in a professional and collegial manner.Excellent research, writing, speaking, and organizational skills.Minimum of three years’ experience with writing and publishing.Minimum of three years supervising staff and administrating programs.Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and efficiently.Must be responsible, reliable, flexible, discreet, and able to maintain confidentiality.Ability to travel to various program locations that may require overnight stays.

Additional Requisites:

Projects an image of service and hospitality with a public face of the Collegeville Institute.Ability to interact with the community of the Order of Saint Benedict and the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University, with which the Collegeville Institute works in close collaboration.Ability to acquire an understanding of the character and mission of the Order of Saint Benedict.The personal safety and health of each employee is of primary importance in our operation.
