Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000

Overview of Position:

The Director of Development & Communications (Director) for ReMerge of Oklahoma County is a member of the Executive Team at ReMerge and serves as a key leader for the organization internally and externally. The position requires a strong working relationship with the CEO and leadership team, especially to develop and achieve the strategic resource development goals and create long-term sustainability.

Working with the CEO, Resource Development Committee, and Development & Communications team, the Director identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards individual, corporate, and foundation donors, leads the discovery and acquisition of other financial resources, including government grants, manages community partnerships, plans fundraising events, and heads communication for ReMerge.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Position:

The Director of Development & Communications prioritizes creating and implementing a strategic resource development plan which includes grants, major gifts, annual appeal, fundraising events, recurring donors, and capital and endowment giving. As a critical player of the ReMerge team, the Director will build and maintain relationships with staff and develop strong program knowledge in order to best represent ReMerge’s work, understand program needs, and tell the stories of the courageous women we serve. The Director of Development & Communications:

Works with CEO and Director of Finance to develop and execute ReMerge’s annual fundraising plan that supports the organization’s strategic plan and long-term resource development plan

Supports Resource Development Committee and its volunteer fundraising directives and efforts

Oversees event management for ReMerge including annual luncheon, graduation celebrations, and Community Kitchens

Identifies, plans, and implements major gift fundraising

Calls and meets personally with donors (current and prospective) and community leaders

Manages and develops direct appeals, including annual appeal

Researches and follows up with leads for fundraising, strategic partnerships, and key resource development volunteers

Utilizes tours, participant stories, and other unique assets of ReMerge to connect community members with and grow support for the mission

Ensures excellence in stewardship, including timely, clear communications and superb customer service

Manages and maintains fundraising database (currently e-Tapestry)

Creates a marketing plan and calendar to raise awareness of the program, connect with new and current supporters, and communicate ReMerge news and event details

Oversees organization’s social media accounts and website

Works with Community Engagement team to cultivate volunteers and further their engagement, including as donors

Seeks feedback from and ensures transparent communication with CEO, Executive Team, Resource Development Committee, and Community Engagement team

Ensures grants calendar is current and all deadlines are met

Manages current release forms to protect privacy of participants

Assists in other areas as needed or assigned

Education and Experience:

Required: 5 years experience in development (fundraising), non-profit leadership, and/or management

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Non-Profit Management, Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or related field with focus on nonprofit resource development and fundraising

Required: Experience and comfort in making presentations or speaking to groups and in having 1:1 conversations with new people

Preferred: Experience working with resource development (donor database) software or CRM

Preferred: Experience organizing, coordinating, and executing group events

Required: Willingness to learn new skills, flexibility and comfort with change and ambiguity as the program continues to evolve.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Passion for advancing the mission of ReMerge and the mothers we serve

Leadership skills with focus on humility, collaboration, consensus building, strategizing, coaching, and inspiring

Manage projects from concept to completion

Think critically and develop multi-faceted plans of action for achieving fundraising and community engagement objectives

Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, especially storytelling

Prioritize tasks and delegate in order to meet deadlines and strategic goals

Excellent organization and documentation skills

Ability to establish rapport and positive relationships with colleagues, community leaders, funders, and community partners

Ability to maintain a positive attitude toward staff, program recipients, community partners and employers, and collaborative members of the community

Knowledge of recovery models of addiction and criminogenic behavior

Microsoft Office and E-Tapestry or a similar donor platform (CRM) proficiency

Create and follow department budget

Motivate others towards achieving goals

Work independently with focus and clear boundaries

Work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse people with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate

Legally operate a motor vehicle and provide own transportation

Electronic Equipment Requirements:

Cell phone and data package are required for this position. Employee must have working cell phone and provide number to supervisor and relevant staff. Data package must be available as needed for work purposes.

Must be able to operate standard office equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Director of Community Engagement will supervise the Community Engagement Team.

Attendance:

Ability to comply with the organization’s attendance policy as documented in the employee handbook required. This position requires both off-site meetings and event (including some evening or weekend) attendance and in office meetings and work.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

In the course of performing this work the staff will spend time sitting, standing, speaking and listening. Must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must have the dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. The employee must have the visual acuity to read and draft reports, memos, letters, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the employee to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently; must be able to hear, speak and communicate clearly.

The employee will work in a smoke-free office surrounding; noise level is quiet to moderate.
