Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to design, modify, and develop components and systems, facilitating manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in computer-aided design (CAD) tools, such as Inventor, NX, and Teamcenter, to create concept designs, manufacturing drawings, and conduct impact studies. You will work closely with engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure that all designs are optimized for fit, form, and function.
Key Responsibilities:Develop concept designs using CAD tools such as Inventor, NX, and Teamcenter.Create detailed manufacturing drawings and update databases as needed for design changes.Conduct arrangement impact studies using the Ship Product Model.Collaborate with engineers to evaluate designs for functionality and performance.Perform ship-checks to validate designs, which may involve traversing ladders, working at heights, and entering confined spaces.Collaborate with deck-plate construction personnel to gather feedback and evaluate design improvements.Lead and mentor junior designers.Qualifications:Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in a related field.Education: Associates Degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., 2 years of related experience can substitute for an Associate's degree). Alternatively, an Apprentice Certificate or Navy Nuclear Power School graduate is acceptable.Skills: Proficiency with Inventor, NX, and Teamcenter is required.
