An established private label apparel company specializing in elevated womenswear is seeking a talented and versatile
Design Intern
with a strong eye for trends, fabrics, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment. Our NYC-based internship offers college students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of fashion design, gain hands-on experience, and learn from industry leaders at Li & Fung. We are looking for dedicated, detail-oriented, and creative thinkers willing to engage at every level of the design process. This is a full-time, paid internship in our LF Markets USA division.

Roles and Responsibilities:Conduct in-depth market research on current trends in theme, fabric, wash, trim, and style relevant to womenswear.Hand sketch detailed garment designs, showcasing an ability to illustrate intricate details and unique design elements.Create flat sketches using Adobe Illustrator and develop tech packs with a fundamental understanding of garment construction.Collaborate with designers to create original embroideries, prints, and patterns, utilizing both hand sketches and digital tools like Photoshop and Illustrator.Assist in developing seasonal trend reports and presentations for both new and existing clients, tailored to an elevated market.Help manage the fabric library, ensuring it is well-organized and up-to-date with the latest fabric samples.Maintain an organized design room and showroom to ensure a productive work environment.Support designers in daily tasks and projects, including fittings, mood board creation, and sample management.Skills & Requirements:
Must be a Fashion Design major with a strong interest in elevated womenswear.Exceptional hand-sketching skills are required, with the ability to translate ideas into detailed illustrations.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and knowledge of 3D software (CLO, Browzwear, etc.) is a plus.A strong team player with a passion for design and product development.Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities effectively.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities.
