Al Jazeera English is looking for a Video Producer to join their real-time social media news team on a 12-month contract.
With a global audience of millions, Al Jazeera’s English-language digital network covers the world from a unique angle, with a focus on the human story. The selected candidate will join our award-winning digital team, which has bureaus in several continents, and will produce content on international news across social platforms and Aljazeera.com.
The Ideal Person:Based in the Americas, you will have at least three years of experience in producing and editing high quality news video content.You are a skilled video editor, experienced script writer and work calmly and methodically in a high-pressure breaking news environment. You are bursting with ideas and interested in a range of stories from across the world and across the news spectrum; from war, politics and crises to tech, social affairs and human interest stories. You’ll have a track record of spotting stories that resonate with audiences on social media. You’ll be part of a team pushing boundaries, evolving with and being one step ahead of digital trends.
Skills:Experienced script writer for video news contentSkilled video editor, preferably with experience in Adobe Premiere ProKnowledge of global current affairsAbility to bring authority and clarity to complex stories, and do so with digital savvyFact-checkingHighly organised and strong team playerAn approach to work that is characterised by commitment, motivation and energy
Job Description:On a daily basis you will be writing, producing and editing videos covering news, analysis and features, doing so accurately, quickly and comprehensively.You’ll be expected to bring ideas and suggestions for news coverage on a daily basis and pitch stories that other networks haven’t covered.You’ll enjoy a diversity of duties, from daily news videos to working with graphic designers on gfx sequences, to chasing interviews on interesting topics.The role may require shift work and flexible hours.
