The Senior Designer’s primary responsibility is to proficiently lead teams in the execution of design from concept to successful project completion, to promote the company ethos in and out of the office, and to help deliver value in the process of executing designs for our clients.

Responsibilities/ExpectationsResponsible for leadership and management of the design team to ensure the success of all projects.Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate designers.Confidently represent and promote our studio brand in all interactions.Lead production of all necessary project collateral to effectively sell design concepts.Deliver experienced, thoughtful design sketches, 2D and 3D elevations, presentation materials, construction documents, detailed specifications, redlines, or other essential design documentation for project requirements and construction methods.Ensure strategic project production aligns with design intent and delivers outcomes that meet client expectations.Collaborate with architects, consultants, contractors, millworkers, and vendors. Communicate and contribute analytical feedback for production as needed to meet project goals.Participate in site work, client meetings, construction administration, shop drawing reviews, workroom visits, and project installations. Travel as necessary.Organize documents, compile all meeting notes, project drawings, quotes, and project information using office filing standards.Oversee proposal and procurement process to meet budget projections and deadlines.Strategize, problem-solve, and negotiate within project production to facilitate studio’s design intent.Stay up to date with design industry trends, materials and products, design/art/antique fairs, and trade shows.Develop and maintain relationships with existing vendors and fabricators and explore opportunities for new partnerships with makers, designers, dealers, galleries, and distributors.

Essential SkillsMinimum of 8-10 years’ experience in an upper-level design position with a contemporary, residential design firm.Extensive knowledge of residential interior architecture and design industry standards.Exceptional customer service, communication, and presentation skills - verbal, written, and graphic.Strong leadership, technical, management, and communication skills.Industry-recognized education/background in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.Expertise in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite & MS Office.Proficiency in Studio Designer software or similar.Ability to efficiently design and manage multiple projects and deadlines autonomously.Proven ability to negotiate contracts for services, consultants, and contractors.Advanced understanding of the methods/process/manufacturing for upholstery, custom furnishings, lighting fabrication, drapery/soft goods, carpet qualities, and installation methods.In-depth knowledge and relationships with high-end galleries, sources, and industry trades.Experience in sourcing contemporary, custom, vintage, and antique furnishings.Passion for collaborative and solution-driven design process.
