Design Assistant- Outerwear

Amerex Group LLC is looking for a talented, enthusiastic, mid-level experienced, individual to assist in creating/developing seasonal product for outerwear. This is an in-person position located in the heart of NYC in the Garment Center. Remote work is not offered for this position.

Daily Responsibilities:Assist designer to research stores and online for new trends. Search and preparation of color/trend reports for designers and sales/buyers.Original sketching in Illustrator/preparing tech packs and BOM’s.Steaming and taking photos of garments.Order samples for accounts and/or advertising.Attend fit sessions and adjust tech packs as needed.Responsible for handling specs for garments.Assist in creating original artwork, graphics and trim development.Keen eye for color and ability to approve lab dips and strike-offs.Organize and maintain fabric library.Maintain and update seasonal brand line sheets.Daily Communications with vendors and factories.
Qualifications3-5 years experience in fashion design, preferably in outerwearExperience in preparing t/packs and detailed sketchingStrong understanding of garment constructionProficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe Illustrator and PhotoshopReliable, hardworking, honest, and willing to helpStrong CAD sketching skills and ability to translate ideas through sketchingStrong written and verbal communication skillsExtremely detailed and organizedFluent in English
