Salary: $85,000 to $95,000

Position Summary:

Sasaki is an international design firm headquartered in Boston with locations in Los Angeles, Denver, New York, and Shanghai. Our Marketing and Communications team is looking for a talented writer and editor to join the firm in Boston or New York as a Communications Manager. This position plays a key role in the coordination of the firm’s thought leadership and social media with a strong emphasis on writing and editing.

We are seeking a Communications Manager to write and share stories of our practice as they develop new content. Sasaki is a 300-person, integrated design firm with a creative culture and body of work that spans 70 years. Our teams and culture are as dynamic as our design work. The Communications Manager will develop stories to advance the firm’s goals and objectives with a primary focus on writing and editing for external audiences. In addition, the Communications Manager will work with the Director of Communications & Public Relations on the overall voice of the firm across Sasaki’s communication channels and will work in tandem with another Communications Manager to provide mentorship across the Comms team.

Responsibilities / Duties:

Writes and edits external communications contentContributes writing to articles, Ideas posts on Sasaki.com, and other long and short form pieces of content in collaboration with designers and members of the Communications teamLeads planning and development of thought leadership and content calendarManages Sasaki-produced publications, including the research publicationLeads the firm’s annual holiday cardDirects external campaigns around major firm milestonesManages and updates databases for thought leadership, project milestones, and contactsManages calendars of blog and social media content several weeks outLeads social media strategy and creates content across Sasaki’s social accounts using industry best practicesSupports text editing, interviews, and research across firm communication channelsOversees process of external mailers including working collaboratively with Communications team members on content selection, organization, timing and audience.The ideal candidate brings 6-8+ years of experience in Communications and a collaborative spirit, advanced writing and editing chops, unquenchable curiosity about the design industry, media literacy, visual storytelling skills, exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment, ability to synthesize and apply new information, and a proactive mindset. They should be proficient in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator and have basic competency in visual composition and photo and video editing.

The ability to quickly grasp concepts within the design, architecture, landscape architecture and planning industries is needed. The Communications Manager will take knowledge of design concepts and translate them into compelling stories. The candidate will frequently work directly with firm principals and designers, and will collaborate on a daily basis across Sasaki’s Marketing and Communications staff.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, or related field
