POSITION SUMMARY

:A member of the Marketing and Communications team, the Senior Specialist, Internal Communications supports all internal communications initiatives at Boston Medical Center Health System across a variety of platforms. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Internal Communications of BMCHS, and working closely with other departments throughout the hospital and health system, this person develops a thorough understanding of the system’s strategic objectives and communicate them in accessible ways to a range of target audiences. Oversees the development and execution of communications tools and publications, including hospital intranet, newsletters (BMC Proud, the Week Ahead, etc.), digital signage, etc.

Plans and executes virtual and in-person meetings and events, including large-scale employee engagement events (e.g., Service Awards, Be Exceptional).

Develops compelling ideas, approaches, and content that conveys BMCHS’ key strengths, priorities, accomplishments, and positions to a wide range of internal audiences.

Helps ensure focus on employee engagement and that employee recognition is pulled through across communications channels.

Represents the department at key meetings, providing strategic counsel to internal stakeholders.

Builds and executes detailed communications plans for internal stakeholders.

Analyzes and measures the performance of internal communications materials and display them in quarterly dashboard with suggested improvements.

Monitors and updates System communications channels regularly to keep them fresh and engaging.

Partners with system stakeholders to create organic, engaging content for employees and patients/members.

Supports content for Town Hall meetings and leadership meetings; drafts materials and presentations for System leaders as needed.

Works with a wide variety of internal audiences (including leadership and front line staff) to source and develop original content.

Helps ensure that brand standards are maintained across print, digital, and electronic content.

Supports employee engagement and culture-building initiatives in conjunction with other team members and HR.

Assists with the creation and maintenance of corporate materials and publications, and manages production with vendors and internal partners as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications or English.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:None required.EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years progressive experience in communications is required.

Experience developing and executing complex communications plans.

Experience in health care preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):

Superior writing and communications skills, attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines.

Proven ability to conceive, research and develop original content.

Proven ability to adapt content to various audiences and formats.

Ability to understand and translate specialized information (e.g. clinical, scientific, policy) in a creative and interesting manner.

Must have strong relationship-building and diplomacy skills and ability to collaborate across functions and departments.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-faceted communications team.
