All the relevant skills, qualifications and experience that a successful applicant will need are listed in the following description.Job OverviewWe are currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced individual for the position of Director of Corporate Communications. The Director of Corporate Communications is an experienced generalist who uses best practices to develop and direct project-based and annual communications strategies and tactics via external communication channels.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesDeveloping and leading external communications, advocating for creative approaches to ensure success and measurable ways to reach key audiences.Contributing to the strategic corporate communications planning process on a yearly basis.Managing proactive media outreach in support of the company’s regulatory, commercial and clinical milestones, congresses, pipeline innovations and business news and priorities.Partnering with regional business and marketing leads to drive strategic alignment and execution on key product communications initiatives.Providing ongoing counsel and maintaining regular interactions with business partners in marketing, clinical, medical regulatory, legal, health economics and market access functions.Liaising with colleagues at our parent company on press releases, PR/IR calendaring, and related activities as needed.Keeping the company’s corporate narrative, website content, overview presentations and company materials dynamic and current.Managing supporting communications agency.Key Core CompetenciesDemonstrates broad experience developing and executing strategic communications plans while managing competing priorities.Brings strong external communications experience – including media relations capabilities, issues management expertise, FAQ and key message development, product milestone announcements and PR programming initiatives.Performs as a self-motivated, solutions-oriented communications professional who will recommend innovative communications approaches and take initiative in a fluid and fast-paced environment.Demonstrates effective writing style, high-impact messaging and in-depth understanding of targeted communications amongst varying audiences.Possesses the ability to articulate complex information in simple and relatable terms.Able to manage multiple layers of reviews and approvals required in a highly regulated industry, including working closely with legal, clinical and regulatory reviewers.Exhibits highly organized, detail-oriented work style with outstanding follow-through skills.Ability to maintain high productivity while balancing tight deadlines.Demonstrates business acumen and fluency in topical health care news and industry trends.Ability to travel domestically as needed.Brand/product PR experience preferred.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent.At least 10 years of corporate and/or product PR experience within a corporate or agency environment. Health care experience – particularly within the life sciences industry – is preferred, not mandatory.The base salary range for this role is $178,100 to $222,600. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state.Sumitomo Pharma America (SMPA)
