Lead Designers lead the activities, workflow, and scheduling of Mechanical and Electrical Design staff and/or functions and serve as a resource to resolve complex problems and issues. They develop new departmental processes, procedures, and standards; and plan and manage document and content management life cycles. Lead Designers apply advanced mechanical and/or electrical skills to design a wide variety of complex components and systems based on instructions, designs, or engineering goals. They create and modify detailed two- and three-dimensional design drawings using a CAD (Computer Aided Design) system and may review the department's final drawings to verify completeness, clarity, accuracy, and conformance to standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain procedures and standards for maintaining documents and change control of documents, including document development, approval, production, distribution, and amendment

Perform data entry, updates, and database maintenance of documentation applications.

Plan and manage document and content management life cycles.

Review documents for accuracy and completeness; and resolve discrepancies with document originators.

Review final drawings to verify completeness, clarity, accuracy, and conformance to standards.

Support and administer department software applications.

Develop new departmental processes, procedures, and standards.

Create and modify detailed two- and three-dimensional design drawings using CAD (Computer Aided Design) system from sketches, layouts, notes, or verbal instructions provided by engineering.

Apply knowledge of electrical systems by preparing drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics involving electronic circuitry for installers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimal: Post-secondary education, 3 years mechanical or electrical design experience including advanced CAD and engineering change management.

Optimal: Post-secondary education in Mechanical or Electrical Design, 5 years design experience including advanced CAD and engineering change management; leadership skills

Organization Skills: Demonstrates ability to arrange or locate needed information and resources. Demonstrates ability to plan, structure and balance workload and resources.

Prioritizing: Demonstrates ability to list or order tasks and responsibilities by importance. Focuses on activities that contribute most to agreed-upon goals. Performs first things first.

Problem Solving/Troubleshooting: Identifies problem. Gathers information systematically; uses logic to draw valid conclusions, generates alternatives; examines alternatives and considers objectives and resources; reaches and communicates solutions

Technology Knowledge: Understands current technologies and has an awareness of future technology directions as it relates to the work function or organization.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary: $75,000-$85,000 depending on experience

Bonus Eligibility: Annual bonus
