All candidates should make sure to read the following job description and information carefully before applying.Manhattan Strategy Group (MSG), a rapidly growing management and social sciences consulting firm, is seeking multiple Senior Level Science Writer-Editors for the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Journal. MSG provides consulting services across the federal government in the areas of technical assistance, research and evaluation, information and communications, and management and technology. Our federal clients include the U.S. Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, Agriculture, Labor, and the National Science Foundation. The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is committed to advancing scientific research and its application to law enforcement and criminal justice. As a Senior Level Science Writer-Editor, you will play a critical role in translating complex scientific information into clear, accessible language for professionals and policymakers.

Role Overview:

These positions contribute directly to NIJ's mission. The successful candidates will have expertise in forensics, life sciences, physical sciences, or social and behavioral sciences.

Key Responsibilities:

You will distill intricate scientific concepts and research findings into plain language that can be easily understood by a diverse audience.

The ability to understand sophisticated scientific methods and their practical application to law enforcement issues.

Write about the implications of scientific research for professionals working in law enforcement and elected officials shaping criminal justice policies.

Use plain language to describe scientific findings from peer-reviewed academic journals, ensuring that methods and implications are clear to executive-level leaders without science backgrounds.

Work closely with NIJ subject matter experts, federal staff, and contract personnel.

Participate in Meetings and Workshops:

Attend staff meetings (virtually or in person).

Interview subject matter experts.

Collaborate with experts in drafting, reviewing, and revising content.

Attend agency workshops and presentations.

Qualifications:

5 + years of directly relevant work experience in writing and editing publications and various documents.

Excellent writing skills are essential.

Style Guidelines: Familiarity with style guidelines (e.g., APA, Chicago Manual of Style).

Relevant writing sample(s) required.

Clearance:

Public Clearance preferred; or must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance by contract start.
