The Director of Digital Marketing at the Crystal Coast Tourism Development Authority (CCTDA) will oversee the management of all digital marketing platforms and functions, working in support of the Associate Executive Director and in tandem with the ad agency, to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

The Crystal Coast Tourism Development Authority is an independent, quasi-government organization tasked with growing tourism-related economic growth in Carteret County, NC. As a small, efficient operation, we operate in a team environment; therefore, it is necessary that all staff of the CCTDA work closely together and, in many cases, share operational responsibilities. This leadership position must share in this culture and lead by example.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Digital Marketing Strategy and Planning

Collaborate with the Executive Director, Associate Executive Director, and digital marketing agencies to develop and execute digital strategies, campaigns and initiatives that align with the organization's goals and objectives, ensuring seamless execution and consistency across all digital channels.

Collaborate with relevant teams/agencies to develop and implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies to enhance the Crystal Coast's online presence and drive visitor engagement, including strategies for social media, content marketing, email marketing, and SEO.

Collaborate with the Executive Director and Associate Executive Director to develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.

Oversee the development, creation, and execution of content across various digital channels, including the website, social media, email marketing, and digital advertising.

Ensure that all content produced is of high quality, engaging, and aligned with the CCTDA's brand voice and messaging.

Manage the writing and editorial process for blog stories, e-newsletter content, website copy, and social media posts, with relevant teams/agencies ensuring that all content is accurate, timely, and applicable to the target audience.

Assist in researching and developing new content ideas and formats, including written articles, audio podcasts, video documentaries, and live streaming events, to enhance the CCTDA's online presence and engage with potential visitors.

Work closely with relevant teams/agencies to analyze content performance metrics and user engagement data, using insights to refine and optimize content strategies for maximum impact.

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, such as content creators, designers, and agencies, to produce multimedia content that resonates with the CCTDA's target audience.

Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards for content creation and distribution, including copyright laws, privacy policies, and disclosure requirements.

Website Management and Optimization

Manage the destination's website, ensuring all content is up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with brand standards, including text, images, and multimedia content.

Collaborate with Associate Executive Director and SEO agency to implement website optimization strategies, including SEO techniques, to improve visibility and organic traffic.

Oversee website inquiries and communications, ensuring prompt and professional responses to user queries and feedback.

Maintain an organized database of incoming leads generated through the website, coordinating with the visitor center staff to ensure leads are properly recorded and followed up on.

Collaborate with the Associate Executive Director to develop and implement website enhancements and new features to improve user experience and engagement.

Conduct regular audits of the website to identify and rectify any issues or outdated content, ensuring a seamless user experience across all devices.

Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to address technical issues, ensure website security, and implement necessary updates and maintenance tasks.

Social Media and Email Marketing

Collaborate with the Associate Executive Director and digital marketing agencies to develop and execute social media strategies that engage target audiences and promote destination offerings, executed by relevant teams/agencies.

Oversee the digital marketing agency to ensure social content is consistent with the brand and aligns with the overall digital marketing strategy.

Oversee email marketing efforts in collaboration with the Associate Executive Director and digital marketing agencies to drive engagement and conversions.

Event Coordination and Partner Support

Own the coordination of event submissions on the Crystal Coast website in conjunction with visitor center manager, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timely promotion.

Work with local accommodation partners to obtain seasonal specials for the Crystal Coast website.

Oversee the rotation of featured accommodation partners on the Crystal Coast website.

3rd Party Platforms Management

Manage and optimize various third-party digital platforms, including content management systems (CMS), customer relationship management (CRM) tools, and social media management platforms, to ensure optimal performance and user experience.

Oversee the management of multiple domains and third-party event websites/publications to effectively promote local events, increase exposure, and drive engagement.

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to integrate third-party platforms seamlessly into the organization's digital ecosystem, ensuring consistency and alignment with branding and marketing strategies.

Analytics and ReportingMonitoring, analyzing/auditing, reporting, providing improvement and optimization recommendations on all digital marketing metrics is a key expectation of this position. Collaborate with the Associate Executive Director and digital marketing agencies to develop and implement data-driven strategies based on performance and insights, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Reporting of Key Performance Indicators includes:

Performance of digital marketing metrics, including data analytics platforms like GA4 and internal dashboards.

3rd Party performance metrics and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance the functionality and effectiveness of third-party platforms.

Content Strategy and Development, in conjunction with relevant teams and digital marketing agency, to provide regular reports and updates on content strategy and development efforts highlighting key achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Website Management and Optimization performance metrics, such as traffic, engagement, and conversion rates, using analytical tools to identify areas for improvement.

Knowledge and AwarenessMust stay abreast of emerging industry trends, innovations, and best practices in the areas of digital marketing, 3rd Party platforms management, digital media, content marketing, website management and optimization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital marketing, preferably in the tourism or hospitality industry.

Expertise in digital marketing strategies, tools, and platforms, including e-marketing techniques and principles.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Proven track record of successfully managing digital marketing functions.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Extensive knowledge of tourism-related attractions, services, and amenities of the Crystal Coast.

Knowledge and understanding of online tools and platforms, including blogs, forums, Sprout Social/Hootsuite, Facebook (including META and Facebook ads), Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and the language that is used in these communities.

Must possess a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

Ability to be extremely organized, effectively manage time, multi-task, be self-motivated, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience working with web content management systems such as Wordpress and similar. Experience with Simpleview products a plus.

Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite Premier Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, or other editing software.

Basic photography and/or video production/editing experience.

Social Media and Writing skills: 5 years (Required).

Exceptional computer skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and/or MAC OS-related platforms (Keynote, Pages, Numbers, or other relevant software).

Team player who understands the need to be flexible and adaptable.

Employee must have a valid North Carolina driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.

Position can sometimes include evening and weekend work and occasionally include out-of-town travel.

Must be able to lift 40 lbs and transport equipment and materials on an ongoing and regular basis.

Employee may be required to work both inside and outside the office and may experience long periods of sitting, standing, walking, speaking, and listening.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
