Invited candidates will be asked to submit two writing/media and communications samples to the hiring committee.

Position Description:

MR seeks a motivated and capable individual to help us create content, effective messaging, and manage our online presence (website and social media) to engage our network in the community at large. The Media and Communications Coordinator will work at least 20 hours, (remote and/or office schedule can be arranged). The Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are in assisting the senior staff with marketing and communications to promote a positive public image about our organization, our programs, and our mission among MR’s various audiences, and advance MR’s efforts to raise awareness, support, and money. The Media and Communications Coordinator will report to the Director of External Affairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design Print and Digital Collateral

Produce digital communications materials, including newsletters, annual reports, outreach, training materials including related graphics.

Manage creation and selection of photography for print and digital communications.

Assist in the identification and vetting of communications-related vendors to assist in projects, including graphic designers, videographers, printers, and photographers.

Website and Social Media Management

Update content and visuals on MR’s website to reflect current programming.

Work with program staff to develop fliers, mass emails, social media content etc. to support program activity.

Monitor hits and views of published materials, recommend strategies for improving engagement.

Maintain and update media archives and contact database.

Media Relations

Assist with media relations for selected events or activities.

Assist in the writing and distribution of press releases.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must have 1 or more years experience with graphic design, website design and maintenance, social media platform management.

Excellent graphic design skills.

Excellent written skills.

Must have excellent computer, Internet literacy, and social media skills including HTML, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Word Press, Adobe Photoshop, Constant Contact, MailChimp, Survey Monkey, and Canva or similar design applications.

Ability to work effectively with multiple individuals and manage several projects at once.

Must be able to pass appropriate criminal background check and comply with Illinois Mandated Reporting laws.

Must have been previously vaccinated for COVID-19 and related variants and willing to update vaccinations per federal and/or local public health recommendations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A degree related to digital media, journalism, marketing or similar discipline.

Experience using Salesforce highly preferred.
