Is this your next job Read the full description below to find out, and do not hesitate to make an application.Brown Industrial Construction is a heavy civil construction company specializing in Clearing & Grubbing, Excavation & Embankment, Sub-Surface Drainage, Material Placement, Soil Stabilization, Concreted Paving, Deep Foundations, Bridge Construction, & related Structural Concrete. We are seeking an experienced Full-Time Survey & Design Manager to be responsible for Highway & Bridge Design, Survey, & Layout, site calibrations, construction layout, machine control setups and topographic surveys for the construction of Highways and Bridges. Qualified candidates will hold a Professional Land Survey (PLS) license.The Survey & Design Manager is responsible for overseeing surveying and design operations to ensure the accuracy and quality of construction projects. This role involves self-performance & management of field surveyor staff, coordinating with project managers and construction teams, and ensuring compliance with design drawings and specifications. The Survey & Design Manager will also be responsible for designing and implementing machine control models and providing technical support for field operations.This position offers a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to establish and lead a new survey department, with the autonomy to recruit and manage their own team and resources. Prior experience in managing a survey department or team is essential.RequirementsSurvey Management

Pre-Construction project planning with company leadership, project managers, & field supervision.Oversee and manage surveying operations for multiple projects.Ensure precise site calibrations for civil construction activities.Provide construction layout and surveys for civil construction activities.Plan, organize, coordinate, and control survey activities in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.Design and Technical Support

Interpreting drawings & field data for drafting and performing takeoff calculations using Business Center HCE Civil 3D Software.Design machine control models and set up machines for field activities.Maintain and operate all instruments and equipment needed to complete surveying tasks.Quality Control and Compliance

Ensure that construction work complies with design drawing locations and specifications.Provide work control lines and elevations required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials.Recognize and address quality issues beyond locations and elevations.Team Leadership and Development

Provide insight to company leadership, project managers, & field supervision that will inform project execution & assist with troubleshooting.Provide training and support to ensure team members are proficient in using relevant tools and equipment.Safety

Learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work.Ensure that all team members follow safety protocols and operate equipment safely and effectively.Qualifications

Professional Land Survey (PLS) license.Minimum of 10 years of survey experience, with at least 5 years in bridge-related projects (piling, caps, decks, overhangs, etc.).Proficiency with Trimble Site Positioning System GPS and Total Station.Strong knowledge of Business Center HCE Civil 3D Software.Excellent organizational, coordination, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.Preferred Skills

Proven experience in leading and managing surveying projects.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, supervisors, and craftsmen.Familiarity with construction site safety protocols.This job description is designed to outline the primary responsibilities and qualifications required for the role of Survey & Design Manager. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
