has a position available for a

Piping Designer

to support our growing Energy Business Line. AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.

Our team provides a wide range of mechanical engineering services across markets sectors including oil and gas - upstream, midstream and downstream refining, industrial processes (chemical, petrochemical, food and beverage), carbon capture and storage, mining/bulk material handling and future and renewable fuels (such as hydrogen, renewable natural gas, biogas). We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a process piping background and project leadership experience to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base.

The successful candidate will have an understanding and experience in mechanical and piping design and technology principles. He/she will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done with excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities:Ability to take general direction and simple sketches from engineers to develop design criteria and progress through all stages of design - feasibility through construction support.Design and preparation of mechanical and piping deliverables to achieve efficient facility design considering constructability, safety and cost.Equipment general arrangements, P&ID's, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, orthographic, etc.Prepare bills of materials and quantity take offs.Employ a variety of data sources to build project model environment including but not limited to laser scan, vendor files, existing base surfaces from LiDAR, survey points and contours.Detailed understanding of coordinate systems and the ability to transform data from one system to another.Data management of survey and client data through the project life cycle.Meeting with clients for project kickoff, ongoing design review, and project close out.Creating, updating, and implementing group specific standards.Contribute to a complete and integrated set of digital project content which includes identification of discipline and vendor interfaces, clashes, etc.Assist with preparation of project specification and contract documents.Ability to check and verify work prepared by peer/group.Apply strong knowledge of industry standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working in US mechanical and industrial infrastructure.Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design work.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:BA/BS + 4 years of relevant industrial experience or AA/AS + 6 years of relevant industrial experience.Physical design experience for industrial facilities.Demonstrated experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D.Able to participate in field walks and create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders, etc. as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:Adaptability and fervent curiosity in learning new software and applications.Experience utilizing and integrating data sets into 3D model (e.g. laser scans, LiDAR, etc.).High level design and CAD skills and technical competency in the field of mechanical and/or piping engineering.Experience in CadWorx, Revit, Solidworks, ReCap.Experience with Plant 3D project set-up and pipe specification creation.Experience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks).Experience in the management of Common Data Environments including ProjectWise, BIM 360.Experience with field walk downs.Working knowledge of piping specifications and pipe stress analysis.2+ years experience as project technical piping lead.Strong experience leveraging laser scan or other data sets to inform design development.Knowledge of typical stakeholders and ability to anticipate data requests and expectations.Understanding of vendor documentation and its use as a reference for assigned tasks.Demonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and CAD teams.Comprehensive knowledge of industry (including safety) standards.
