Description

Position: Vice President of Marketing & Communications

General Purpose:

Our Vice President of Marketing & Communications will help us become the most recognizable name in the nonprofit community! This person will plan and execute marketing & communications strategies.

The ideal candidate is a creative, dynamic, self-starter who is interested in working on a small team and likes to try new ideas while monitoring progress against goals. This position reports to the Chief Philanthropy Officer.

The Vice President of Marketing & Communications also works with the Chief Executive Officer and Advisory Boards or Corporate Board (as assigned) to ensure the Clubs are well represented in key communities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

STRATEGY and PLANNING

Guide the implementation of the Strategic Plan priority of "Become the Most Recognizable Name in the Nonprofit Community" by driving a multi-year strategy to meet set objectives.

Ensure all marketing activities support the plan objectives.

Ensure Plan and Objectives include both annual operating activities as well as special projects, such as capital campaigns.

Work closely with Resource Development to ensure marketing activities and strategies further the philanthropic plans of the organization.

COMMUNICATIONS

Manages brand voice, talking points, facts and documents.

Maintains Club's internal and external message to best convey our impact & mission (Teachable Point of View)

Authors key organization messages

Trains others on using key messages

Use messages to educate donors and partners on the scale of the challenges in our communities, how the Clubs address the problems with innovative solutions, and bring our impact to life through success stories

Develop new communications strategies to cultivate existing donors, stem attrition, and grow our donor base by reaching new audiences.

MARKETING

Execute Marketing Strategy, measure performance, create benchmarks, iterate and improve.

Create and implement all phases of the direct marketing plan for donor acquisition and cultivation in accordance with approved strategy and plan.

Build awareness, expanding the reach and recognition of the Clubs. Manages email marketing strategy (planning, creation, market segmentation, and sending)

Manages social media accounts (content creation and management)

Performs website updates on Square Space ensuring accuracy and timeliness of content

Provide analysis of marketing efficacy, especially related to digital marketing and optimizing overall ROI.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Manage the approved public relations program to ensure increasing public awareness of the issues to our Members, their families, & communities and to enhance the image of the Clubs in key cities.

Maintains active presence in local media, submitting press releases, & tracking media coverage

Research best stories to pitch to the media, identify Club spokespeople for each story, and develop key talking points.

Creates relationships with local publications and influencers for high agency coverage in each key community.

COLLATERAL DESIGN

Manage concept and creative development, design execution, production, and distribution of all marketing components. These components include but are not limited to: appeal mailing, acquisition programs, fundraising events, digital marketing, radio and print advertising, pledge programs, and newsletter publications.

Provide promotional resources to Clubs & Communities as needed. These include but are not limited to brochures, donor acknowledgment materials (receipt package), displays, videos, and social media resources, emails, web pages, banners, flyers and signs.

BOARD/VOLUNTEER RELATIONS

Maintains Marketing Committee, meeting at least quarterly, to support building organization's Community Awareness.

Ensures board has all necessary information prior to and after each meeting relating to Department and as it relates to getting their work done as a board. Attends meetings and retreats and staffs appropriate committees.

FUNDER & GRANT REPORTS

Authors & designs creative materials for specific funding opportunities & donors.

Authors & designs creative materials when needed for Grant Reports.

OTHER SKILLS

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.

Commitment to being a high performance team player.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university strongly preferred. Masters Preferred.

Three to five years of progressively responsible communications and/or marketing experience required.

Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, frequently

The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.

Interest and ability to represent the agency in the public eye.

Squarespace & Constant Contact experience a plus

HTML/CSS experience a plus

Salary Description

$125,000-$160,000
