Job DescriptionDirector of Strategic CommunicationsLocation: New York, NY (hybrid)Position Overview:Chegg is a leading EdTech company at the forefront of AI-enabled online learning support for students. We are seeking a seasoned Director of Communications to lead our strategic communications efforts, enhance our brand visibility, and drive engagement with key stakeholders. This is a leadership role that requires a dynamic communicator with a deep understanding of the EdTech industry, AI technologies, the higher education sector, and who can craft and execute a compelling narrative that aligns with our company's mission and values to serve students holistically throughout their learning journey from high school through college.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Communications Leadership:

Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with the company's goals, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.Lead external communications, including public relations, media relations, investor communications, and crisis management.Work closely with executive leadership to craft messaging for key announcements, product launches, partnerships, and other major initiatives.

Brand Management & Public Relations:

Build and maintain a strong brand identity and positioning for Chegg within the EdTech and higher education sectorsCultivate and manage relationships with key media outlets, journalists, influencers, and industry stakeholders to secure positive coverage.Oversee the creation of press releases, media kits, and other PR materials to effectively communicate the company's value proposition.

Content & Digital Strategy:

Lead the development of high-quality content, including blog posts, opinion pieces, newsletters, and social media campaigns, to drive thought leadership and engage target audiences.Oversee the company's corporate website, ensuring content is updated, timely, relevant, and engaging.Drive execution of tentpole initiatives that support Chegg's reputation on key issuesCollaborate with marketing and product teams to align communication strategies with broader marketing and product goals.

Team Leadership and Management:- Manage the external communications team, including hiring, mentoring, and developing talent to meet the evolving needs of the organization.- Ensure effective allocation of resources for communications initiatives.- Manage relationships with external agencies, contractors, and vendors to ensure the successful execution of communication strategies.Qualifications:Required Experience:- Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.- Proven experience managing teams, budgets, and contractors in a fast-paced, complex environment.- Demonstrated success in developing and executing communication strategies in the EdTech, higher education, or technology sectors.Skills & Competencies:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering impactful communications campaigns.Deep understanding of the EdTech industry, higher education, and AI technologies, and the unique communication challenges in these fields.Established relationships with key media in one or more of these sectors - EdTech industry, higher education, and tech.Proficiency in digital communication tools, including social media, content management systems, and analytics platforms.Highly collaborative and team-oriented, energetic with a positive can-do attitude.

Education:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.Location:- This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of two days per week in Chegg's New York office.The pay range for this position is $ 215,194 to $399,646.
