Function of the role:The Grant Writer will participate in the end-to-end preparation and delivery of grant applications on behalf of Leyton clients. This is a part-time internship position (20/hrs/a week) offering $20/hour. This position is responsible for all phases of grant work and ensuring that applications are compliant with the relevant eligibility criteria outlined by the funding agency. The role involves taking ownership over the grant application process and includes the provision of pre-award assistance, liaison with the relevant funding agency throughout the process, grant submission management, and post-award management.Additional functionalities of the role include researching and preparing reports of relevant grant funding opportunities for clients, presenting the reports, and assisting clients with the development of a strategic roadmap for when and how to access the identified funding. This role is client-facing.The Grant Writer will actively research and pursue prospective public and private funding grant sources, while developing relationships with clients. This position will coordinate with Leyton's consultants, sales, and other stakeholders, as necessary.Main Responsibilities will include:Performs reviews of institutional needs, collects, and gathers program data, and assesses the feasibility of obtaining external funding for project and program proposals.Investigates local, state, federal, private, foundation, and corporate sources of funds.Management of online registrations wherever relevant.Develops and maintains a grant application process.Develops and maintains a grant management system for funded grants that includes report due dates, budget adherence, and any other grant requirements.Develops and maintains a library of information on funding sources, grant writing, and community and state data relevant to the client's programs and services.Collaborates with client contacts to gather necessary input for all projects and comply with requests for data and other information.Coordinates, develops, and manages grant applications from conceptual to delivery stage.Manages multiple projects and priorities including searching for funding sources, writing proposals, reporting to stakeholders, and working on special projects.Help with sales/marketing initiatives to help Leyton meet internal goals.Desired experience and skills:Excellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent time management and critical thinking skillsExcellent organizational, project management, and people skillsImplement the use of technology to assist with grants development and management.High degree of initiative to find solutions and meet deadlines.Read, comprehend, interpret, and apply governmental regulations and proposal guidelines.Work remotely, be computer literate, and possess the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to adapt to changing business needs.Nice to Have:Experience working specifically with NOFOs from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DoD), and the Department of Energy (DoE) strongly desired.Proficiency with online grant administration systems such as Workspace, FedConnect, eRA Commons, and eBRAP.Experience working directly with PIs on grant applications.Experience preparing and negotiating project budgets.Experience managing subawards and working on consortium agreements.Knowledgeable of funding sources, compliance issues, and legal and fiscal policies of funding sources and appropriate government agencies.Education and Experience:The items above are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience required or preferred.
