Senior Architectural Designer

with 10 or more years of experience to join our

Baltimore office.

As part of the Architecture Discipline, the Senior Architectural Designer works independently supervising a staff for project specific solutions that advance the design for site development, building organization, massing, plan configuration, material selection, architectural image and aesthetic for projects. This position coordinates with the architectural, interiors and engineering teams to develop design solutions that meet the client’s objectives and the firm’s goals for design excellence, financial viability and quality service. Collegial environment, excellent compensation and benefits package including 401k and choice of healthcare plans.Job DutiesSupervise large, sometimes multiple, teams of professional and technical support personnel in project situations; together with the Project Manager, accountable for design costs within the total project budget.Participate in Design Reviews of other designers’ projects.Assist Practice Leaders and the marketing department in the preparation of design documents and presentations material inclusive of photography and portfolio maintenance.Assist the Project Manager and Principal in Charge in establishing the effort and time necessary to design the project.Work with Practice leaders on developing design solutions and strategies for client presentations and responses to proposals.Work with market segment leaders and specialized planners to generate programmatic relationships that foster building configurations of great utility and design innovation.Create building designs which serve the client’s needs and responds to their desired image, space, and aesthetic.Lead discussion to ensure the client’s understanding of certain relevant architectural issues.Work with the Project Architect in developing the building design by testing it in relation to codes and other issues that emerge in the Design Development phase.Assist the Project Architect in articulating design principles that help govern the detailing phase of the project. Author and/or closely supervise details critical to the design concept.Work with the engineering disciplines (inclusive of civil and landscape) and Interiors to ensure a consistent development of the project towards the design concepts established in earlier phases.RequirementsBachelor of Architecture10+ years of experience.Proven experience with conceptual design, leadership of project design teams in the execution of design driven projects within owner’s budget constraints.Demonstrated superior graphic design and building design and conceptualization skillsExperience with AutoCAD/ADT softwareProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteHand drawing and sketching skillsPreferred QualificationsRegistered Architect in at least one state with suitable credentials for registration in other statesBenefits of Working at EwingColeGenerous paid time off, 401(k) plan with company match, tuition reimbursement, flexible/hybrid work options, paid parental leave, excellent insurance offerings including medical, dental, vision, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, identity protection and more.
