Location: Bethesda, MarylandSummary:The Web Designer will be responsible for creating and maintaining visually appealing and user-friendly websites and web applications for the NLM. The designer will ensure that the websites and applications are accessible to all users, meet the NLM's branding and design standards, and provide an optimal user experience.Key Responsibilities:Design and develop website layouts and user interfaces, creating visually appealing and intuitive designs that align with the NLM's branding and style guide.Create graphics and visual elements, such as icons, illustrations, and animations, to enhance the user experience and visual appeal of websites and applications.Create interactive and dynamic web pages.Ensure website accessibility and compliance with Section 508 standards, making sure that all users, including those with disabilities, can access and use the NLM's digital resources.Collaborate with other teams, such as developers and content creators, to ensure successful website delivery and ongoing maintenance.Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor's degree in web design, graphic design, or a related field.Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in web design, with a demonstrated track record of creating visually appealing and user-friendly websites and web applications.Skillsets:Strong design skills and experience with design tools, such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.Familiarity with web accessibility standards and best practices, including Section 508 compliance.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.Strong understanding of user experience (UX) principles and their application in web design.Preferred Certifications:Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) or equivalent.Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) or equivalent.Clearance Requirements:Public Trust - Moderate Risk.
