Director – GOCA (Gallery of Contemporary Art) – University of Colorado, Colorado Springs Salary: Generally starting at $67,558 – $93,184 per year
All potential candidates should read through the following details of this job with care before making an application.The UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art (GOCA) Director oversees all aspects of this non-collecting arts program. Areas of responsibility include artistic planning for indoor gallery spaces and non-permanent public sculpture program on the grounds of the Ent Center for the Arts, development and implementation of operational strategy, communication programs, public relations, fundraising and donor stewardship, and management procedures for indoor gallery space and non-permanent public sculpture program. The mission of the Galleries of Contemporary Art (GOCA) is to spark engaged dialogue about contemporary culture through visual art exhibitions, public programs and special events that articulate aesthetics, current issues, and diverse perspectives for a wide range of audiences, including UCCS students, faculty, staff, and regional community visitors. GOCA seeks to promote and enhance the understanding and appreciation of contemporary interdisciplinary art.UCCS and GOCA are committed to creating a culture where all who attend, work and benefit from the campus are valued and respected. The Director will collaborate with UCCS and CU faculty to implement academically relevant programs and demonstrate comfort working in an academic atmosphere and a highly public, community-facing role. The Director of GOCA is a critical arts leader and advocate on campus and across the Pikes Peak Region; a desire to engage in the local arts community is essential.Minimum Qualifications Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire:Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or 4 years of equivalent professional experience in an arts organization or creative business with demonstration of increasing responsibility over time.Six years of experience working in the visual arts.Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher, preferably in art history, visual arts, museum studies or arts management. Specialization in contemporary art with an interdisciplinary focus is a plus.Prior experience in a leadership position in an arts organization.
