Public Affairs and Social Media Specialist

to join the Corporate Affairs team. This position will play a critical role in shaping and managing the public image and communication strategies of our organization within the aerospace and defense industry. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring public relations and social media campaigns that align with our strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the defense industry, excellent communication skills, experience managing media relations and a proven track record in digital media management.

A high number of candidates may make applications for this position, so make sure to send your CV and application through as soon as possible.Key Responsibilities:Public Affairs:Develop and execute a comprehensive media relations strategy that supports the company's business objectives.Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, journalists, reporters and editors in the aerospace and defense industry.Prepare and distribute press releases, statements, and briefing materials for media engagements and public appearances.Identify media opportunities and proactively pitch stories to relevant media outlets as well as manage incoming media inquiries.Collaborate across disciplines (media relations, social media, employee communications, trade shows) and business areas.Handle incoming media inquiries and work with internal teams to determine the best path forward.Assist in the development and execution of PR activities such as media events and trade shows as well as additional internal and external events.Monitor and analyze media coverage and public sentiment related to the defense industry and the company, providing regular reports to senior management.Prepare external remarks and content for senior leadership, to include opinion pieces, speeches, talking points.

Social Media Strategy:Develop and execute social media strategies to promote the organization's mission, initiatives, and industry thought leadership.Manage social media accounts, creating and curating compelling and relevant content (including text, images and videos) that drives engagement and aligns with company goals.Monitor social media trends, conversations, and analytics, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize reach and engagement.

Compensation Range:

$113,800- $145,100The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.Skills and Experience:BA/BS degree in a communications discipline or related experience with 15+ years experience in public relations, social media management, or a related role.OR MA/MS degree in a communications discipline or related experience with 13+ years experience in public relations, social media management, or a related role.Required Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages.Strong understanding of the defense industry and its unique communication challenges.Ability and willingness to collaborate with internal teams, industry, and government stakeholders to coordinate external communication activities and ensure consistency of messaging.An understanding of the differences between the wants and needs of local, industry, and business media, the ways in which they operate, and best practices in pitching.Established relationships with local, industry and business media.Ability to monitor, analyze, and communicate the company's core messaging.Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, analytics tools and best practices.Creative thinking and ability to develop innovative social media strategies that align with brand objectives.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Knowledge of crisis communication strategies and media relations.Familiarity with defense-related public policy issues.Proven experience in managing social media accounts and executing digital campaigns.Experience with social media scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprinklr).Citizenship Requirements:Must be a U.S. citizen.
