A full time Associate Designer is needed for a successful contemporary apparel brand with a beachy California aesthetic. In this role, you will support the development and execution of the Women’s Sweater knit product assortment. This individual will be responsible for supporting the design and product development process alongside the Sweater designer. This role is onsite 4 days, 1 day remote.

Translate design concepts into CAD drawings, which includes but not limited to sketching silhouettes and creating stitch fills and simple artwork with call outs, CAD layout options including colorways, etc.

Responsible for setting up and updating all seasonal women’s sweater styles in PLM, including BOMs, for both development and production.

Support the Sweater designer with researching seasonal trends and color forecasts, inspirational imagery and style concepts, and requesting knit downs in line with design direction, maintaining an understanding of the cultural and competitive market trends as they relate to our customer.

Assist in set up of concept presentations by preparing boards with swatches, flats and imagery, ensuring boards are up to date with the most current designs.

Maintain accurate records and up-to-date communication with cross-functional teams and knitwear factories throughout the design and development process.

Set up initial seasonal linesheets and maintain as changes occur.

Collaborate with Product Development and Production teams in the quality control process to ensure that final products meet design specifications, desired color and finish, and quality requirements. Identify and address any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.

Support design team for seasonal product presentations and sales meetings by collecting samples and organizing them prior to meetings; ensure samples are presentable with hanger appeal; assist with packing and unpacking samples as needed.

Support design team by creating color cards for cross functioning teams once seasonal color pallet is finalized.

Ensure that the PLM system is being used properly. Work with operations to identify areas of opportunity to improve the system functionality.

Assist with detailing style info for each season for web and accounts as needed.

Perform additional duties and assignments as requested.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or equivalent qualifications.

3+ years of experience and training in the contemporary fashion industry, or design/product development.

Excellent working knowledge & skills of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Strong CAD sketching skills required with keen attention to detail and accuracy.

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Word.

Experience and knowledge of tech pack creation and BOMs in PLM software and working with overseas factories.

Sweater knits experience is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge of garment construction and fit.

Must be a highly organized and detail oriented individual that has the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and priorities.

Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter with strong follow-through.
