FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking an experienced Anchor/Reporter to support our growing team. The successful candidate excels in ad-libbing, storytelling on all platforms, connecting with viewers, can receive feedback, and models professionalism on and off the air.
Scroll down for a complete overview of what this job will require Are you the right candidate for this opportunityRESPONSIBILITIES:Accurate reporting of news storiesAttend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideasDevelop community contacts and a network of news sourcesMust be able to ad-lib live breaking news by telling a compelling storyWork with photographers, producers, and desk in the development of a storyRegularly update the newsroom on story elements and progressUse social media to update news stories to the publicAttend station partnerships in the communityAnchor weekend newscasts and specials produced by the stationRegularly write and proofread stories for assigned broadcastsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:B.A. or B.S. Degree preferably in journalism or communicationPrevious TV anchoring and reporting experience strongly preferredREQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Must interact positively and productively with employees in the field and in the studioUphold station values and model professionalism on and off the airStrong on-air presentation – must be credible, personable, and engagingExcellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong attention to detailMust be able to accept constructive direction and feedbackFlexible with schedule and willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts and holidays as required by news contentPositive, solution-oriented attitude and team playerCan perform duties and make decisions under extreme pressureStarting $45.70/hr commensurate with experience and skill level.
