The Humanities Department seeks to hire adjunct faculty to teach Communication (COMM) 101 – Public Speaking. This 3-credit-hour course focuses on strategies for public speaking, public presentations, and conducting meetings. Effective approaches to audience analysis, establishing speaker/presenter credibility, assembling/organizing information, and all verbal, visual, and other non-verbal aspects of delivery are addressed.

Scroll down the page to see all associated job requirements, and any responsibilities successful candidates can expect.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Successful applicants must have the experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities required to effectively deliver instruction in the areas listed in the position summary, as well as competence in creating appropriate visuals to accompany professional-level oral presentations and other communication events.For course management, knowledge of and prior experience with the Blackboard Learning Management system is required.Years of Experience Required:Prior post-secondary teaching experience (at least one year strongly preferred).Required Education:Master's Degree.Minimum Qualifications:Demonstration of professional and educational work and experience related to the field.Preferred Qualifications:A master’s degree in a media/communications or related field is preferred, along with at least five years of professional experience in a related field. Demonstration of professional work such as a portfolio.Working Conditions:Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds). May be exposed to loud noise from instrument and voice practice rooms on-site.
