If you are interested in applying for this job, please make sure you meet the following requirements as listed below.The Editorial Director will work closely with the Publishing Director and the editorial team to oversee and grow the Adult Trade nonfiction list at Bloomsbury.ResponsibilitiesHelp shape the nonfiction list by acquiring a small list of key titles as well as working with the Publishing Director to oversee all adult trade nonfiction acquisitions decisions.Supervise and manage the nonfiction editorial team on all aspects from author care to agent outreach to acquisitions and publication.Work closely with the editors on positioning of nonfiction titles, from acquisition to tip sheet copy, flap copy, and cover design.Strategize with the Publishing Director on how to grow our nonfiction business in innovative ways, from who we hire to what we acquire and how we publish it.Identify nonfiction categories to explore for growth potential, with an awareness of current trends.Collaborate, develop relationships with, and work closely with UK colleagues on shared nonfiction titles and other shared business.Work with the Publishing Director and Fiction Editorial Director to strategically plan and schedule seasonal lists from acquisitions through publication and backlist.Work with the publicity and marketing teams on ways to grow our nonfiction business with independent booksellers and book clubs.Develop, nurture, and grow new and ongoing relationships with agents, key media, and booksellers.Present nonfiction titles at launch meetings, lead titles meetings, and sales conferences.Mentor junior level staff and help them achieve their career goals.RequirementsBachelors Degree in a related field.Knowledge of all aspects of book publishing.Strong agent relationships and industry-wide connections.Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated ability to influence and partner within a diverse organization to help drive business results.Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills.Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.Proven experience in managing multiple projects with strong prioritization skills.Critical reading skills/editorial eye.Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications.LocationAll candidates must reside in the NY tri-state area and be able to commute to our NY headquarters on a hybrid-remote schedule.Equal Opportunity EmploymentBloomsbury Publishing USA is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
